No calls? Sorry if someone has made the observation...Did y'all see the holding no calls? I counted at least 5 blatent "no call" holding penalties, but it doesn't matter b/c karma is a bitch. The no call that would've resulted in a safety gave us a sweeter O/T win. I don't think Bama was really tested this year. Their toughest opp was USM in my book. I loved our D adjustments at half and good teams make BIG plays!
so nobody saw the holding our guys had that went uncalled also. I think the refs were pretty fair for both sides. eric
Did Bowe catch that ball in the 4th quarter that they called incomplete ? It looked to me like a catch then a fumble out of bounds - but they did'nt show a replay.
I agree with every one of the above, except I don't recall Bowe catching and then fumbling. There was also a blatant hold on the Tigers that went uncalled. I can't remember who, but someone held the bama right defensive end as he was blowing past.
I think the pass to Buster that was overruled was done so incorrectly. I thought his left hand was def. under the ball when he hit the ground. As for the hold in the endzone, I like it much better that our team won the game by making plays and not by a disputable call (aren't all holding calls?) by the refs to put the game away. If there was ever a case of a ref deciding a game that would have been it.
The pass interference call (Buster Davis) on the first scoring drive of the second half went our way; and allowed us to score. I think all things are equal. No complaints mate!!!
Overall the refs were consistent - which is the most you can hope for. I think mediocre calling impacted both squads for a pretty even impact. The one exception may be the davis catch that they ruled hit the ground - th CBS angles shown over and over showed his hands under the ball. Still we converted the second series and moved the ball down.
i thought the biggest homer call was the holding on the punt. The official that was standing on the same yard line as Skyler Green called it... 40 yards away.. he drops his flag.. after the play he runs down to the LINE OF SCRIMMAGE and puts the flag down. You NEVER see a holding call result in a first down for the punting team. There is no way he should make that call in that situation.
This was the only really flagrant no-call that I saw. The overturned reception and the replay calls were not that bad. They were close calls. Jamarcus has to quit throwing at a players ankles and this problem will go away. The holding on the punt was a really bad flag and I'm sure it will be complained about to the SEC.
