Besides the obvious Defensive improvements, like someone said, he'd bring in another recruiting ground for us to cheery pick. Can't go wrong in any way with him.

Chavis is old hat. Been a DC for years and doesn't have the drive LSU needs now. Plus, his D's could never figure out the spread. Just look up Florida's stats vs. UTK the past couple years! Name your score! :nope:

Nope. LSU needs somebody younger, more aggressive, more driven. Not John Chavis.

    30 points this season.

    Florida averaged 46.3 ppg.

    Nice try, though.

UT defense only gave up an avg. of 16.8 points a game this season... compared to their O who only averaged 17.3 points a game... hard to win in that environment.
Also comparing their D to ours we gave up 25.9 points a game. But we scored an average of 30 a game. I think we'd have won a few more games with their defensive scheme.

I wonder how close that 16.8 average would be to 10.0 had UT had at least an offense that didn't turn the ball over and had a ground attack that could control the clock to some degree.

Well it could be said that had UTs O been able to keep drives going and control TOP better... their D might have allowed less than 10 pts. If Miles lets Chavis get away i'd have to question the decision, if he is available that is.
His D could really be the huge foundation this teams needs, and imo puts us back in the 10 win column.

What I love most about Chavis is he is a proven LB coach.

And for the lack of heart, talent, resources, or whatever the blame there is in the UT team, he sure brings out their best effort on the D side of the ball. We could use a motivator like him.

And he puts his best players out on the field.

As a true freshman, Eric Berry made the All-freshman team. He got on the field real early as a starter.

Think of what he could do with the raw talent of Loston, PP and Davenport.
