Sports talk radio (560 AM) in Memphis reporting Chavis to LSU with a $100,000.00 increase in pay to about $500,000.00.
The three guys talking disagreed as to whether or not it was a positive hire, but they all agreed that between Chavis and Coach O, that Chavis was the only good choice. One of them has been a regular critic of Chavis' defense at UT for several years and said he worried about Les' choices coming down to Chavis and Coach O.
At least we now have a single DC and an on the field guy.

Who was the critic? Weinberger? If so, he's an idiot!

    The Knoxville newspaper reports:

Chavis, 52, is expected to be defensive coordinator at LSU, a source close to the situation confirmed Monday.
    ...
Chavis, who according to the source turned down an offer earlier this month to become Clemson's defensive coordinator, declined comment when reached by telephone Monday afternoon. "I can't comment on it at all," Chavis said. "To my knowledge, LSU hasn't released anything at all. That would be for them to do if it is true."
    ...
Chavis turned down multiple opportunities with other schools and in the NFL. In January, he declined an offer to be the Atlanta Falcons' linebackers coach.

According to a source, Chavis also had received interest from several NFL teams since UT coach Lane Kiffin dismissed Chavis

I will second that! I quit listening to them because Weinberger pissed me off so much. I love the choice, but don't think we will see Chavis and O.

    Add:

Stout, attacking defenses were the norm under Chavis, who took over as UT's coordinator in 1995.

    Re: DC Watch: John Chavis

Let it be known that Tigerforums.com led the charge in the acknowledgment Chavis would be a credible and feasible hire, long before tigerdroppings, scout, tigerbait, tigergumbo, tigerrag came up with this name.

    Tigerforums, biotches!

Nov 18th was when this thread was started, right after the Troy game.

Tigerdroppings is still reporting the LB coach from the Miami Dolphins is our next DC. Jeez.
