I'll be excited when it is 100% confirmed. (Hope it comes true)

Now there are now two media outlets independently reporting Chavis to LSU -- both ESPN and WVLT-TV 8

WVLT-TV 8 (also known as Volunteer TV) is the CBS affiliate in Knoxville, TN (home of the University of Tennessee).

They report that:

Former Vol defensive coordinator Chavis going to LSU

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Former University of Tennessee Vols defensive coordinator John Chavis has accepted the defensive coordinator slot at Louisiana State University under head coach Les Miles, Volunteer TV Sports Overtime has learned.

An official announcement is expected from LSU later this week.

Chavis was defensive coordinator under Phillip Fulmer until Fulmer was forced to resign and was replaced by new UT head football coach Lane Kiffin.

Re: DC Watch: John Chavis

The Advocate got a hold of Chavis, and they report:

Reached on his cell phone Monday, Chavis declined comment.
“I really can’t comment on it,” he said. “Les would have to comment on it.”
Asked if he could confirm whether he had interviewed for the job, Chavis said “I’d rather not at this time, if that’s OK. I don’t know what all is out there.”
When asked if there was a comfort level with staying in the SEC, where he’s been the Tennessee defensive coordinator for 14 seasons, Chavis said “There’s no question. But I don’t want to comment on anything until Coach Miles has.”
