I believe Chavis is a done deal, just a matter of timing and letting the right people know in the right order.

Orgeron appears to be a possible battle between Tennessee and LSU. We need to react quick in order to get him here. I sure as hell hope we do. We need the fire on the sideline since Chavis coaches from up in the box.

Actually, for all we know, Chavis may have been approached by LSU as soon as the word on Fulmer became official. At least, the early feelers may have gone out that quickly.

We know how much it pizzed off Les Miles when all the rumors were running wild a year ago - he's bound to keep it quiet and demand the same from the others involved.

I hope we hear something soon, though - I'm getting nervous as the proverbial working girl at Mass. :geaux:

I wasn't aware you've intently watched Tennessee play football for the past 15 years.

At this point me too, according to the article I posted about, in the 2theadvocate they say this about the UT defense from this season:

"Despite Tennessee’s troubles this season, UT ranks second in the SEC in total defense (263.5 yards), second in pass defense (160.4) and third in scoring defense (16.8)."

If our defense had played that well we'd have maybe 2 losses tops.

Although all you guys are selling Chuck Manson short as a DC, I think Chavis is an acceptable hire.

Orgeron would be a significant coup as DL coach and head recruiter, especially since we'd be keeping him away from an SEC rival who's about to turn things around. Thing with Ed, though, is he bounces around from job to job quite often, and he's a Red Bull addict. I'd prefer someone who stayed in one job for a while and was a hillbilly-heroin addict. :D

Whatever the case, let's just politely show Mall and Peve the door. :thumb:
