Re: DC Watch: John Chavis One rumor is that Coach O is headed to Tennessee: This is the second year in a row that the coach of the losing team in the Egg Bowl also lost his job. Last year it was Ed Orgeron, who was fired a day after Mississippi blew a 14-0 lead in the fourth quarter. Orgeron, by the way, is rumored to be joining Lane Kiffin's staff at Tennessee. They were part of Pete Carroll's staff at USC. http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition/la-sp-spotlight30-2008nov30,0,2590605.story Or maybe LSU: The other juicy rumor is that Ed Orgeron, currently the defensive line coach for the New Orleans Saints and formerly the head coach at Ole Miss, is going to be hired on at LSU in some capacity. This would either be as defensive coordinator or as defensive line coach/head recruiter. I know that a lot of LSU fans mocked Ed Orgeron when he was at Ole Miss, but the man built that team that just beat us. And while his head coaching performance left a lot to be desired, the man was a great defensive line coach before taking the job at Ole MIss. He wasn't good for USC and Miami. He was outstanding, and he would bring a lot of energy and aggressiveness to the LSU coaching staff. He was promoted beyond his abilities to be head coach at Ole miss, and personally I would be ecstatic if he would leave the Saints (where he seems to have done a nice job of coaching a line that has been devastated by injuries) to come to coach the defensive line at LSU. http://www.andthevalleyshook.com/2008/12/1/675867/lsu-post-regular-season-mo
Re: DC Watch: John Chavis Wouldn't their staff be insane?? I'd be worried about Tennessee if this comes to fruition.
Re: DC Watch: John Chavis i heard that a couple of days ago and would make way more sense than coach O in Baton rouge. edit: but i thought that was as his DC and it seems now like lane is asking his dad monte to be his DC.
Re: DC Watch: John Chavis The only rumors I heard of Coach O to Tennessee would be as a "recruiting coordinator" or assistant/associate DC (Both of which are very good moves for Kiffin).
Re: DC Watch: John Chavis literally insane if coach o is hired but really who is proven on the college level? certainly not lane as HC. looks pretty though and has lots of upside. i tend to think it will work as well.
Re: DC Watch: John Chavis Wow, if this comes to fruition I'm convinced our D would be MEAN in short order. Lets hope so!:tigereye:
