I read a series of tweets the other day from a guy who claimed to be a career Coast Guard officer with extensive experience in dealing with illegals trying to come in from offshore. He said there are two main reasons why adults and children are separated....a. the potential that children are in fact victims of human trafficking and not the children of the accompanying adult. He says that is found to be the case much more often than is reported. b. Adults and children in holding facilities receive different medical and nutritional care. Simply put, the kids are fed better, and when detained together, adults will steal food from children. This, he said, happens every time. Is he legitimate? No idea, but that's what he said.
I've also heard there's lots of criminals (like MS-13) that are now taking children at gun point from their parents and using them to try to get in the US. A lot of these supposed 'parents' are scum with stolen children. Border agents are aware of this and try to establish the rightful parents of the children. It's not an easy job, and it's gotten worse with all MSM propaganda. The more we give here the more you put children across the border at risk.
