This is key. Now, the onus is on the DA to connect the dots. How does JJ go from not even noticing homeboy in the bar to repeatedly kicking him in the ribs just a few minutes later? I'm not saying that it can't or didn't happen, but now the DA has to convey a practical story to make that connection, and that will be terribly difficult given the lack of credible witnesses. Unglesby is playing this masterfully. He was on 104.5 yesterday, stating a bunch of things that are long overdue, given the one-sided nature of all the details the cops released. They fumbled the snap in a major way, so now he's holding his own court of public opinion.
Since this whole thing started, I've never thought that JJ would actually do something like he is being accused of. It's made me mad at the BRPD. And that dbag, Lowery.
my prediction is that the DA is gonna also know this whole thing is a major shyt bomb created by the police department, and there is no way he can handle it without it biting him at re-election time. one side or another will be after him. so he is gonna pass the buck to a grand jury so he can posture in front of the cameras and say "the people have spoken". (and i dont think a grand jury will let it go any further because unglesby is gonna shred the brpd's handling of this case and the so called vicitim.) however, the proceedings for a grand jury will move so slow that jj will still miss his sr year and will not see the field this season. and no matter what you think of him as a player, that is a travesty for him as a person if he is innocent.
The "witnesses" that talk to radio DJ's over the phone will have to testify under oath and risk perjury. I bet a lot of them aren't even called.
A couple of people have already mentioned other points, but one that hasn't been mentioned that stands out to me, is that it corroborates the bar employees stories. If they are telling the truth about what happened inside, why would they lie about what happened outside?
