wow this thread struck a nerve I guess.... bottom line: Tigers are 10-1, heading into SECCG, and A good bowl win or lose. However! there is still room for improvement. Especially with the offense. I hope it turns around (currently 56th in total offense) and I think it will. But the conservative playcalling really should just fade away, like the type of defense the tigers were playing the first two games of the season. Geaux Tigers! Beat Georgia! :geauxtige
LSU's defense is very strong, LSU's kicking and coverage are very strong, and LSU's offense is good, but inconsistent. It takes all three phases to win and one of them always has to be the weakest. Last year it was special teams that were the weakest, this year it is the offense. There ain't no perfect teams. Moreover, there ain't no "Par" in football. What we count in football are "Scores" and LSU is #38 in scoring offense, which is well above average. Taking the team as a whole team, it is 10-1 and still contending for national and SEC titles. LSU has improved through the season, still has two games to play, and still has room to improve on offense. Isn't that great?
The offense wasn't good last year either, in fact I thought that hindered us more than a weak kicking game. So you are saying the offense is well above average? It's very hard to tell on Saturdays. I don't understand how you're ok with our offensive performance. Sometimes I wonder why I care, me caring doesn't change how well the offense does. This is the offense that we have, why not just accept it and move on? To that all I can say is I wouldn't be satisfied with our offense if I were the coach. That we are still in contention for the SEC and national title despite our offense is great. It helps that no offense in the SEC is that good.
I just don't understand your need for LSU to be PERFECT. I'm delighted to be best in the SEC and 3rd best in the country. If you are expecting undefeated national championships every year, pal, you are in for a sad and disappointing football experience. So LSU's offense is in the upper third of all teams, instead of number one. Who really gives a chit when we are in contention for championships? Good enough is good enough.
I don't expect LSU's offense to be number one; it wasn't with Matt Mauck and I was usually content with it. We finally came around with Rohan Davey after a slow start and had an amazing offense. I can't be satisfied with our offense; it is poor. I am satisfied with our team and I am more than willing to give Les Miles time to prove or disprove himself. I am not jumping from the hayride. I just expect more after two straight years of weak offense. If our offense isn't better next year I will be very disappointed. The SEC is rebuilding this year, but that won't last. Calling our offense an upper tier offense blows my mind. If we can't agree that this offense is lame then our mode of communication is severely limited. I can't agree with that.
I can agree with that. You don't try and lay blame here and that gives your post credibility. The "lack of offense" if you can call it that, and the seemingly "conservative playcalling" has everything to do with the limitations of our skill personnel and/or the lack of execution, primarily in the offensive line. If our defense was just average, we would be in trouble for sure.
Our offense is below our expectations. It's is not as good as it could be. This everyone can agree on. However, our offense is still pretty good compared to most teams in the SEC & even the country. It is not "sub-par".
Keeping in mind also our QB is a SOPHOMORE...his numbers are better than most seniors. I think we go up from here.
