I understand all that. I think we should be able to score more with this talent on offense. But I've been saying that since the '01 season. I thought Saban held Fisher back b/c we had such a great defense and he didn't want to take any chances of the offense losing games. Maybe it wasn't Saban ... or maybe Fisher has another coach in Miles that doesn't want the offense to lose games either. I'd like to score more points as well. Rational discussion about our shortcomings on offense is fine with me. But I can't understand all the outright venom directed at Miles by some fans.
I understand your point, and understand you love LSU football. I understand LSU has not won pretty at times this year and we all think or know we could do better. The thing I don't understand is when people act like this is something new at LSU. We play in the SEC, close ugly games are the norm in this leage for us. This is nothing new...... I know we had alot of returners this year, and alot of players have not always played as good as they could, yet they at times have played better than they should. This has always happened at LSU, this year is no different. My point is not all is bad, if anyone calls the coach out this year on close games or games not played well then just look back and ask if you did the same to the last coach here, if so did you want him fired also? We have been lucky this year, and we have let some of the teams we play stay in the games with us when we shouldn't, but the bottom line is we are 10-1 and still playing, really can't ask for too much more.
a) if our players were disciplined... they dont make throws into double coverage or drop easy passes because they're looking upfield... who disciplines them... oh, the coaches... right on b)no, you may be the one that is blind... 106 in total offense vs asu, ut, fla, and auburn... 52 in total offense after we've played the tenacious defenses of north texas, app state, arkansas, n ole miss. WOW!!! I know everyone's gonna hate me beacuse I didnt just talk about how lsu's coaches are the best in the ncaa and that lsu hasnt played the toughest schedule in the country, or that Im pefectly happy with being number 52 in total offense... but well... I'm not
So did you blame Saban when WRs dropped passes? I mean, it had to be a lack of discipline, right? Bowe dropped passes last year, too. Who recruited him? Did you blame Saban when Randall threw into double coverage in '02 and '04? He did that regularly. Where were our offenses ranked nationally in '02, '03 and '04? Didn't we play cupcakes during those years as well to pad our stats? No hate, just expect fans to be more fair in their anaylsis...
If he keeps this same gameplan and offensive strategy, Georgia, West Virginia, and whoever plays us next year, will more than likely WIPE THE FLOOR with us... this horrible game plan has led the tigers to a 10-1 season, so something must be wrong with the way the coaches are coaching. maybe lsu should not have hired a new coach this year because obviously this team could take the field against anyone in the country with no coaching what so ever and win just on talent alone. forget how much jamarcus has improved from last season to now, forget how much the defense has improved from the first 2 games, and forget the almost flawless play of special teams this yeas (especially compared to last year), and you get a team that is doing all of this on nothing but talent alone. all year it's been with this gameplan lsu will lose next week to florida, aburn, alabama, and so on, and all the team has done is win, and then it's been lsu won because we're loaded with talent. it may not have been pretty everyweek, but this isn't the pac 10 where a trained monkey can put 45 pts on the board every week.
Can't you phucking imbeciles understand that it's the execution that is stalling drives and limiting the offense? If player A doesn't execute his blocking assignments, the running play will fail. If player B drops a pass on 3rd down, the drive is stopped. If Player C fumbles the ball at the line, the play won't work. It's not the playcalling you stupid idiots. Yesterday, there were at least 6 perfect situational calls that were stopped by a terrific defensive play, e.g. open field or desperate lunging shoestring tackle. Sometimes you have to give credit to the defense. They want to win too. It cannot be said enough but we have played 11 games and won 10 of them. TEN OF THEM YOU G.D. MORONS!! WHAT IS YOUR PHUCKIN' PROBLEM??!! We now return you to the bitching and moaning.
The guy that started this thread must have some kind of inferiority complex or Les or Jimbo is either screwing his girlfriend/wife or have dirty picture of him. He has only started 4 or 5 different threads on this same subject. He would know an offensive gameplan if it hit him in the face and knock the **** off out him.
I cannot, for the life of me, understand how so much of the blame goes directly to the coaches' playcalling. If LSU's players were executing well, LSU would average over 40 points a game. One more time, with LSU's current playcalling, LSU could easily average 40 points a game if the players were executing. When an offense in the SEC can average 40 points a game, there's nothing wrong with the playcalling. Now, it is the coaches' jobs to get these players able to execute. We do not have any skill position players on this team that have produced in the past, and have stopped producing. We simply have a bunch of talent that has yet to ever produce, under either Miles or Saban. How much of the blame goes to Fisher for not developing them? How much of the blame goes to Saban for not getting them ready before last season? How much of the blame goes to Miles for not developing them further? Some things are the coaches' fault. Some things are the players' fault. Part of the team's success is due to coaching. Part of the team's success is due to talent. Just because we have a great record doesn't mean we can't be dissapointed in how we played a game. Just because we played a close game doesn't mean it's due to coaching errors. Every team has close games against teams it shouldn't. Saban had them. Pete Carroll has them. Miles has them. Winning those close games is what makes you a champion.
