I'll give you an Amen on that one, Stud. Lots worse gets said on the field. A referee friend of mine said they learn to develop a thick skin and temporary deafness about some of the crap they hear on the field, or they would be throwing unsportmanlike conduct flags on every play.
I don't think we need to come down on Ole Miss because this type of stuff is fairly common. However, I would be upset if Saban had knowledge of his players calling opponents by racial slurs and choosing to ignore the situation. These athletes are representatives of the university and have a duty to uphold certain standards. There's no place for it in college athletics. Also, I consider football a game because it's fun (although hard work) to play. War is not fun for anyone, except for very troubled individuals. It's a necessity to survive and you have to give major props to our soldiers risking their lives, regardless of your political views.
No, Stud...it's a GAME. I'm sure all those fine folks serving our country in the Middle East right now would agree with me. THEY know what a WAR is.
I think you failed to see the facetiousness in Stud's statement. He was inferring reference to our beloved Kellen Winslow, Jr. His comments were meant strictly in jest.
if my friends got mad at that, i would immediately get new friends. words are just words. words during heated sporting event are particularly irrelevant. if you thought you could get inside my head with trash talk, i would welcome the challenge, and nothing would be off limits. dont let people tell you its acceptable to be a whiny little bitch about having slurs thrown at you. thats crap. it just teaches us to be thin skinned when we think that way. in the NHL you can beat somebody with your fists, thats a 2 minute penalty. call em a racial slur and you get in big trouble and have to go sensitivity training. i dunno about you, but i would rather be called names than beaten by a huge ass hockey player. its indicative of how we are wildly oversensitive and stupid. if everyone would learn that words are just words, we would be alot better off. its stupid we have a list of insults that are ok, and some that arent. i grew out of caring about name-calling in the 3rd grade. exactly.
Martin, do you go around calling black people "nigger" or do you think that should be reserved for the football field only? Yeah, it's just a word...
