I hope none of that cash is going across Kofii Annan's desk. It's liable to be
going out the door 10%-15% lighter if it does.

The UN needs to clean up it's own messes before commenting on the perceived shortcomings of it's member nations. And that's the nicest way I can say it.

Actually the US has upped the Tsunami aid package to $350 million I believe and we are now 2nd in contributions, behind Japan.

The US is 4th in aid. Australia is #1 doubling the US aid w/765 mill. Germany is #2 followed by Jap. then the United States of America.

Stingy no. #1 no. #4 yes. With a war and all of our problems around the world and at home $350 mill is not bad.

I wonder how much aid we got after 911?

I saw on FoxNews as I was flipping through that the US is spending $6 million a day in manpower and from use of our naval carriers and whatnot, that isn't included in the $350 million aid package. Which is not to mention all of the private contributions from Americans, such as Sandra Bullock who just gave $1 million to help out the people. I know that $1 million isn't typical of all Americans but Congress just unanimously passed a law saying anyone who gives to the Tsunami relief until the end of January can write it off on this years Income Tax. I would think that that will get a lot of people who already aren't contributing money to contribute in an effort to pay less in taxes.

Give me a break. Did we ever ask for donations from impoverished nations like Sri Lanka? Does the richest country in the world need donations from third world peasants who don't have a pot to piss in? No.

Where is the pride in America's greatness and spirit of generosity that we once had? Only a great fool would assume the 9/11 attacks committed by one faction of foreign terrorists makes every foreigner our enemy.

    Charities Report Record Donations
Our government may have only given $350 million, not to mention the $6 million a day they are spending not included in the aid package, but the American people are going above and beyond the call to help out these ravaged nations. With all of these private contributions we will soon be sending as much money as other nations such as Japan and Australia, even though i'm not sure how much their people are contributing.
