Bans on any sort of gambling is foolish. If someone is stupid enough to bet their own money on something that someone else does, by all means, they probably don't deserve the money in the first place.

This stance surprises me. We've established that people smoke when they're gambling. Rather than being at an adults-only establishment, they gamble from home -- homes which may have kids. Glad you're OK poisoning children.

i use tradesports (ireland i think) and bodog (costa rica). plus i dont use a credit card, i do automatic bankdraft, which works fine. it shows on my statement as "middleton financial" or some other vague something or other.

there is no way this could ever be enforced, and if individual gamblers start getting busted for betting online, we should all continue to hang our heads in shame at the sorry state of america, where people cant exchange in voluntary exchanges of money based on speculative events unless those events are approved by the government.

Our government is step by step trying to rip up the constitution and forget all about True freedom so that they can have as much control over our money as possible.

We just keep allowing it to happen. The problem is I have no idea what is going to have to occur for people to finally say enough is enough.

Incorrect. We've established that people smoke at casinos, where they also gamble. For all I know, people may jerk-off when they're gambling on the internet. Bit of a stretch to take a shot, but I'm glad someone bit the bait early on.
Why? Because it's my opinion that gambling is foolish? I've gambled before. Won a little, lost a little. And by all accounts, I don't understand the fascination. Therefore, it's a fact that I think it's foolish. But people should be allowed to do foolish things to themselves.

no because its a blanket statement that is foolish on many levels. I assume you think wall street is a perfectly legit way to invest money. what about all the hard-working people who make bad decisions speculating stocks and lose their income? should this be illegal? are they foolish for making informed decisions that turn out wrong?

Gambling is legal in this form because the government can have its hand in it. its not because they want to protect anyone which should be the case.

based on your generalization, I suppose you consider gambling whatever the government tells you it is. People take risks whether its a stock, bond, a small business venture or a stupid pyramid scheme. the person with most information usually wins. its not the governments position to tell anyone how they should decide on either. your comment simply tells me you lack the understanding that gambling is simply a term used by the government to control another aspect of our lives via our pockets.

In your zeal to disagree with me I suppose you skipped over the part where I said I think that it should be legal? That doesn't mean that I don't think it's stupid. I think that riding a motorcycle w/o a helmet (or at all, really) is stupid. But I don't favor the helmet law. Who are you arguing with?
Based on your diatribe, I suppose you're going on nothing more than a preconcieved notion about my stance on this issue. I don't care if people want to dump their money into stocks, pyramid schemes, home run derby, whatever. They oughta be able to do it. That doesn't mean that I don't think it's foolish. So long as it ain't anyone else's money, do what you wish.

On a side note, that doesn't mean that I don't think some of the other more 'accepted' ways of gambling that you mentioned aren't less foolish than sports gambling.
