Back already? The best debaters always annoy each other, Hoss. Find a topic and come at me from another direction. I don't carry grudges from thread to thread.
I have a question for you Red. I'm not being snippy or trying to poke you here, I just want your opinion. Would you uneasy and/or suspcious if hundreds of muslims moved into your neighborhood? Let's say, enough to become a majority. What if they were all buying cargo vans? I confess that my answer to this is un-Christian and un-American, but it's a definite "yes". You made some great points about Islam being a religion of peace and, quite frankly, I can't refute your arguments. I do, however, believe that in today's society, more people have bastardized Islam than Christianity. I don't believe that you can argue against(could be wrong here) the amount of terrorism that occurs today in the name of Islam far outweighs any terrorism carried out in the name of any other religion. I would not become uneasy and want to move if hundreds of Jews or Methodist moved into my neighborhood, but would be if they were Muslims. I know that's wrong and not politically correct, but I don't care. In my opinion, Muslims are different and should be viewed with suspicious eyes. A penny for your thoughts.
There are large numbers of muslims in Baton Rouge. This is a university town and there are muslims all over campus where I work. I have a muslim woman Ph.D working for me in full scarf. All you see are her hands and face. Muslim grad students all the time. There are many black muslims in Baton Rouge, too. There are 8 million Muslim US citizens and many more on green cards and student visas. They are all over. Most are just trying to get by like you and me. The average American muslim is well educated, affluent, hard-working, and has a professional job (top 2 after student is engineer and physician). Your fears of the entire religion is misplaced. There are a whole lot of different races that are muslim including caucasians, asians, and africans and most of them are not radical islamists. There are are more Arab and Muslim countries that are our allies than are our enemies by a large factor. Focus on the problem--eliminating the radical element among them. This job requires a scalpel not a bludgeon. Kill the terrorists and the rest of the Rags are not a problem.
