I'm not even moderately familiar with Islam, so most of Islam's mainstream holidays would be unknown to me. To the Tyson's worker's union, however, this must not be an insignificant day.

Is your argument that the Tyson's worker's union shouldn't have the freedom to negotiate holidays unless Fox News, and thus you, agree? To lighten the blow, know that last bit was tongue in cheek, sir.

I won't begrudge your point of view or deny that there is probably some validity to your argument. I guess I just think Islam is more like Christianity, noble and high-minded, than you do.

What's the big deal? The employees at a plant voted on their paid holidays and picked them by an 80% vote. I wish I could vote on my paid holidays. LSU gets MLK but not Memorial Day, I'd change that . . . but we don't get a chance to vote on our holidays. If these guys do, more power to them.

How does it hurt anyone else?

Fair enough. Mind if I ask why? Not being a smartass, just wondering if you have some books or literature that you can refer me to.

I try to not be afraid of what I don't know. I have read at least a half dozen books on Islam and came to the conclusion that it is a very violent religion.

The word "Islam" means "surrender" or "submission". I would argue that the folks that do not hold non-muslims in disdain are the minority, although I admit I can't back this up.

Red, I want to agree with you. I know how "un-American" my opinions sound here. I just feel that muslims should be viewed with skeptical eyes. Something about them wanting me dead makes me uneasy.

I don't see the big deal. The non-muslims don't have to go out and celebrate. All they have to do is not work.

While I dont agree with you profiling all Muslims, I do have to agree with you that from what I have read( which has been quite a bit) and studied, the religion was founded in violence through Muhammed.

I understand, but don't overgeneralize or overreact. Most muslims don't care about you at all, much less want you dead. The radical Islamists who do want you dead happen to be international criminals that everyone is trying to hunt down and eliminate. Making enemies out of billions of ordinary muslims because of hatred of those few thousand who attack us is not logical or practical.

If 300 Somalia muslim refugees working in a slaughterhouse with 700 Mexicans doing work that none of us want to do, wants to work on Labor Day and get off on their muslim holiday, it's no big deal to me. It's not like they wanted to deprive their Catholic co-workers of Easter or Christmas.
