FOX 8 Exclusive: Tyrann Mathieu to remain in drug rehab Updated: Aug 16, 2012 10:48 PM CDT Written by: Jen Hale - email Tyrann Mathieu (File/AP Photo) New Orleans, La. - FOX 8 Sports has learned that former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu has come to some big decisions about his future. It's been an agonizing decision making process for Tyrann Mathieu and his parents this week. But they've now decided, as a family, that Tyrann will remain at a drug rehab center in Houston for the near future, instead of returning to classes at LSU or any other college - in order to play football this fall. The Honey Badger's father, Tyrone Mathieu, tells FOX 8 Sports that he and Tyrann agree -- until he conquers his demons, he won't be successful at his future endeavors, wherever they unfold. The senior Mathieu says both Tyrann and his family are committed to restoring Tyrann's health, no matter what it takes, believing football will take care of itself down the road. http://www.fox8live.com/story/19300600/fox-8-exclusive-tyrann-mathieu
And so, there was...in fact...no meeting in BATON ROUGE Tuesday night, since TM is and has been in Houston.
Not an in person meeting with TM. Family and conference call from what I was told a few days ago. I actually PM some about the rehab stuff.
You can also now see the dots to the report that TMs family didn't want him to come back to LSU. They didn't want him to leave treatment.
I haven't heard it was anything other than pot but not ruling out the possibility of ADD meds which has gone around. I think it was more of the nothing would work and the same pattern over and over. I know he and his family went to check out the facility in Houston last weekend and he will be working with John Lucas.
Why do so many say that? John Lucas isn't necessarily a drug rehab expert, but more of a life coach to my knowledge. BHelm, what do you know about Lucas, other than he used to play basketball? I know Jamarcus attempted to utilize his services, but Lucas fired HIM. lol. Who says it has to be more than pot just because he's seeking help? The pot is just a way he uses to deal with the much bigger problems he has. Pot is not THE problem.
He is more of a mentor who works with athletes in rehab facilities. Mainly basketball players but other athletes sprinkled in. Here is a 3 page write up on some of his work. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/the_bonus/11/29/john.lucas/index.html
