Do you mean he failed more than 3 drug tests, or that there were other complicating factors beyond 3 drug tests? I understand if you can't expand more, but was hoping to clarify. Thanks for all of your input BH.

CLM shows his courage and ethical standards in moments like this. I support him fully. Better to remove a cancer than to turn a blind eye b/c of exceptional ability.

First of all, I wish nothing but the best for TM. The rules are the rules whether or not we agree. I hope he overcomes this challenge and finds success in his life. He is a young man and a person first. I don't understand some of the hostility towards him that I have seen on the board.

Second, I am disappointed. I was really looking forward to watching him play this year. He was one of the most exciting playmakers I have watched in a long time. Shame that it's the end.

The team will be fine and I don't think this is all that big of an impact to our dreams for 2012. TM was a play maker but he wasn't a great corner. I think he got exposed and I don't believe this year was going to be a repeat or improvement over last year. Would love to have him here but don't really feel all that concerned that he won't be from a football perspective.

It's comforting to know that we have a coach who is loyal and supportive but isn't afraid of making the tough decision. The team is bigger than the individual and each player has a responsibility to their teammates on and off the field.

Like some others I disagree with the substance being illegal but it is not the issue here. The issue is that he let his team down by not following the rules. Other kids on that team are toeing the line, doing what's expected and working hard. It would be a greater injustice not to remove TM. It is a privilege to play CFB. Many opportunities are available to these kids that are not there for others. So I have no problem with there being a higher standard (no pun intended).

If you want to fire one up, fine by me. Come on over. But if you make that decision you have to realize that you will pay a price. Life is about trade offs and sacrifices. And in this case you can't hit the pipe and hit the field. In the end this will be an important lesson for a young man. I hope he makes the best of it.

True. Everyone that smokes is lazy, sits on the couch all day eating Cheetos and saying things like "duuuude". We favor Reggae music and we dance around in circles holding hands.

    Sweeeeeeet!

Michael Dyer, Isiah Crowell, Tyrann Mathieu and I feel this insatiable desire to put Tennessee's Tyler Bray in the SEC mix. (showing an extraordinary amount of future potential) All these guys had easily the potential to be the top tier talent in the SEC for 2012.

My read on Bhelm's post is that in addition to 3 failed tests, HB7 violated other team and university rules. I did not read that as Miles gave TM additional chances that he would not have given other players.

    I wish Matthieu well...really do.

But there's no way around the fact that he was a selfish player who put his own self interest above the good of the team. That's what I'm intolerant about.

It was probably more that just smoking weed. His cocky attitude that's passed off as swagger, provoking people on Twitter, the way he played sometimes where he missed easy tackles and deflections because he was trying to be the hero all indicate that there was a deeper attitude problem that affected the team negatively. I don't know, but I can easily believe that Miles authority over the team was challenged.

TM broke his Twitter silence by posting:

So grateful for LSU & it's fans!! I wish those guys the best on their National title run... I'll be you guys biggest fan. Jeremiah 29:11

looking up that Jeremiah verse, it says, depending on the translation:

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you...plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.

    etc

Yep, Miles did all he could. I hope everything doesn't come out. Time to move on. Best of luck to all.
