You mean Texas whined its way into the Rose Bowl even though they won:

PASADENA, Calif. - Mack Brown insisted the Rose Bowl wasn't about him, but it was. After he pleaded to get his team into the Bowl Championship Series, it was almost all about him.

Can the state really stop all Texas schools from participating? I would think it would be a school-by-school decision... Especially any private schools in the state....

Senate Bill 1790 wouldn't affect private schools. It only pertains to those schools defined in the Texas Education Code as "general academic teaching institutions." The only D1 Texas college football programs representing schools in this category are Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, U of Houston, North Texas, and UTEP.

I like the part that if four other states don't accept it by X date it goes away. I would like to see Delaware, Rhode Island, Vermont, and New Hampshire put this into play. of ccourse Texas doesn't have a shot at a BCS bowl anyway so it won't matter.

I am sure the schools would be glad to forfeit the BCS money if they made the bowls.
