The same Terry Martin that signed with Texas Tech and after having things not work out there he wanted to move closer to home and chose between LSU, McNeese and ULL. What recruiting battle did Brady win there? Stromile is Brady's one big recruit his entire time here and that was in '98 almost nine years ago. Ronald Dupree, come on you can do better than than. Darell Mithchell lived his entire life 20 minutes from Baton Rouge, those are the guys that should be a lock every time. Anthony Randolph is the first real recruit that Brady had to go out and compete against other shcools on equal footing and he won out. Not bad, one legit recruiting battle won once every nine years. Coming off the final 4 Brady's recruiting stock is as high as it's ever been, let's see how he does once all the gimme recruits are gone and he has to battle to get them. The next couple of years will tell a lot, Collis Sr is out of kids and AAU players from B.R.,Brady is going to have to go to work on his own.
My bad. I thought he ended up at LSU! Broken record. Let's see how Miles does after Saban's recruits are gone. It's a never ending battle to get people to appreciate what's right here right now.:dis:
i generally agree with you, but youre exaggerating. could you reasonable expect a coach (even a good recruiter) to win great recruits not in the area coming off dale brown's wane and under sanctions? not me. plus, i left off several top recruits that he should some credit for, but they didnt/havent panned out--rolle, minor, johnson, ford, probably others ive forgotten. does he get credit for jucos?--smith, lloreda, roland (?). also, cant hold it against him that he got the CT extended family. now is when we find out how good he is. no sanctions, and on a bit of a roll.
I may not be Butch Pierre, but I'll venture to say that I follow hoops recruiting alot more than most of the folks posting on this thread... Sure hindsight is always 20/20, and now, of course, it's easy to say we put our eggs in DJ's basket. But, you must be the mastermind recruiter if you can recruit two high quality kids to play the same position on the same team... Perhaps you should give that class to Brady... My point was that so many folks flamed the staff for not landing Tweety without knowledge of what actually happened. Tweety committed to Baylor VERY early (in his junior year if I recall). So, he took himself off the market and there was very little "catch up" that could have been done in any case when that was pre-Katrina and the staff had focused in on DJ. As for whether he could have been better than Tack or Voogd, you may have a point there, he could have been--so could any of the top 15 PG recruits from the last two years. It's just the game of recruiting--you can't win 'em all. I actually wanted the Tigers to sign Ryan Francis (and posted it back then, not now) that year as a back up, he went to USC and was playing real well before he was killed in BR this year. That's hindsight 20-20 too. I suppose LSU could have signed him, and had a much more realistic shot of doing so. As for all of the bitching about the pipeline and whether Brady's a good recruiter or not... let's just let the team's record speak for itself. And, yes, only time will tell. But I for one think LSU being SEC champs and going to the final four seems to suggest something right is going on here with recruiting--the naysayers will say that Brady rode the coattails of local talent that was fed to LSU. What can you do? :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. PACK THE PMAC.
