I will have to say if Tuberville stays he has earned some respect from me. If I were treated as unprofessionally as he was by his employer I would leave; I think the only thing that is keeping him there is the players on his team; he doesnt want to let them down.

The bottom line is that this business will just kill Auburn recruiting this year. And for what? No new coach and a pissed off and distracted current coach. Recruiting is everything. Now recruits will feel that the coaches promises are suspect because the people above him don't really want him and he's likely to be gone as soon as the $3.5 million buyout is less of an issue. Perhaps the Auburn AD and president and their kingfish, Louder should be replaced.

Nick Saban finished last season with the same record that Tuberville is likely to fnish with. No one at LSU even thought about replacing him. LSU is winning because of recruting.

Considering firing a coach with a winning record is bad enough, but to talk about it without having a better coach waiting in the wings is recruiting suicide.

Auburn will be less of a factor in the coming few years. They won't be able to recruit.

Right on Red... You hit the nail on the head with you post... Recruiting is everything..
When you get good players, that coaching *%&# starts kicking in.

Also, You are no better than the folks working for you. Can't be a CEO like Tubbs with crappy assistants.

Geez, way to go ahead and just write us off for the next couple years. Thats getting a little ahead of yourself I think. Trust me, I believe that this whole fiasco will hurt recruiting some, but I dont think Id go ahead and just write off 2 more seasons because of it. Im sure the money will weigh in his decision whether or not to stay, but I really do think hes staying for those kids. Those are all his recruits and he genuinely cares about them and they care about him. There was an article in the paper about how Carnells mother was even behind Tubbs because she knew how much Carnell liked/respected him.

My opinion on the whole thing is that Walker/Housel/Lowder can all just get the heck out of dodge for all I care. Ive wanted Lowder gone for a long time, and Housel is merely a puppet for Lowder, so he can just get out with him. And Walker just really has no business being President. But theres not a whole lot that we fans can do about them besides harass them with emails about the whole thing.

    WAR DAMN EAGLE!!

Many good points added while I was away gnawing on some turkey. BTW - congrats on a dominating win over Arky, definitely the most complete game I've seen all season.

Anyway, the latest on the CTT watch is that he's likely to stay at least through the Bowl game. CTT has a very strong case for "Constructive Termination", meaning Auburn violated not only his contract but also his right to due process as an Employee of the State. My guess is...he's fully entitled to the entire payout, as are the assistants. He'll still be required to abide by settlement terms, and that's what I imagine the attorneys are fiendishly working right now.

Louisville's AD Jurich complimented CTT, indicating he was the only official from Auburn that had contacted him personally to apologize for the incident. Say what you want about CTT's coaching abilities (or lack thereof), but he's evidently learned from his past mistakes and has conducted himself with professionalism and class throughout this season and this incident.

It was absolutely comical though, when Pres. Walker had to delay his apology release while several individuals were in the woods looking for CTT on his hunting trip...LOL ... I would imagine he gave alot of thanks over his turkey-day meal....about 3.8 million thanks!

These Bozo's have made a damn martyr out of CTT with their gross ineptness at handling standard business matters. President Walker and AD Housel are dead men walking. Unfortunately, I can't imagine CTT staying unless Lowder is removed or severely admonished. Otherwise, CTT will always be looking over his shoulder....and that's no way to live, especially when you no longer need the money.

The chances of enacting meaningful change at the BoT level are remote. However, there is now a renewed effort by SAC (Southeastern Accreditation....) that threatens to remove Auburn's accreditation status, thus causing the loss of major Federal funding that the state institutions desparately require.
I hate to say it, but it's probably the only thing that will "cut through" the political BS and force the State of Alabama to restructure it's governance of state institutions and force a change in the bylaws that are used by the BoT.

Without it, we will continue to see scandalous corruption as we have recently seen with Auburn, Alabama, and Alabama State. Not to mention the continued negative perceptions for the conference.

Either way , Redd makes a good point about recruiting. Auburn is already getting slammed and I'm sure there is more to come. Saw on ESPN gameday where they predicted Auburn to finsh "third-worst" in '04 recruiting, behind ND & somebody else.

If it were me, I'd fire Walker/Housel, hire Vince Dooley as a 2-yr. interim AD , and hire a young fireball like Tedford or Meyer to come in and stabilize a really sad situation for these kids - the players deserve better, and so do the alumni & fans.

    Just Announced.....

CTT had a press conference and announced he's "looking forward to staing at Auburn for a long, long time". Said there was a "communications problem" that he had since worked out with President Walker.

I'm not buying it, but that is what he said. I think his lawyers announce he's leaving following the bowl game. Today's press conference was a charade to buy both parties additional time to arrange a split...... a negotiated settlement that will pay CTT a huge buyout to just "go away"
