Man, interviewing potential candidates before making a decision to fire the current HC ... and making it public? I'm not a Tubby fan, but I would tell Auburn to stick this job up they arse!
I'm with you on this one. I really feel bad to those folks over there. I guess, as we are heading towards bowl season, we are feeling the "step-brother" syndrom when it comes to our conference. You know, it's ok for us to talk bad about them and beat them up, but nobody else. Nashville sports radio is ripping Auburn a new one this morning, talking about what a underhanded act this is.
If Tubs stays it will be one of those "Uncomfortable situations" next year.. How can you interview other candidates, then if you dont get them tell Tubs "OK we will keep you, but just because we could not find someone else" How will that effect recruiting, Man the Powers at Auburn are really pooping the bed on this one.
This whole situation is just turning into a big monster. It just kills me. I knew the "big wigs" in Auburn were screwed up, but they are taking it to a whole new level now. I remember being there and walking out of classes one day because the students were just fed up with Lowder and wanted him out of there. But I just dont know of any real feasible way to boot him out. He was lining the former governors pockets to keep his slimy butt in there. And the way I see it, he will be around until our governor has spine enough to not take his money, and just let his term run out. But this is just a lose-lose situation and Id just like to be resolved as quickly as possible. And no matter how it ends they owe Tubbs a HUGE appology, and I dont think the administration could even muster up the kind of appology that they owe that man. Nobody deserves to be treated that way, and Im honestly kind of surprised he would even want to stay. They have to realize that the way they let this thing play out is only going to discourage other coaches, and even big named recruits from coming to Auburn. WAR DAMN EAGLE!!
For the Bamers and Baurners to consider.... Wouldn't Auburn show up the mighty Tide if they went and hired Mike Price to be there next coach, and price leads them to the SECCG in 2004? All strippers and expenses aside, I think this would be a good, CHEAP hire for Auburn, and the returns could be tremendous. Also, just imagine how pissed the BAMERS woud be. I love it!
Yeh I figured Brett would have deleted what I wanted to put in there... How about Drop Achor, Sling Mud, Take the Cosbies to the swimming pool, or my favorite, "Take the Browns to the Superbowl"
As the Great Bill Murry in Caddyshack said... "I have to laugh" at the Auburn situation. Today got us back to the days of Huey Long when Bob Reilly our governor got involved in the fray... Long live Tubbs!!! Love it they had to go in the woods to find him while he was hunting to apologize...
I have no source or info for this, but all this just makes me wonder about something. Does anybody except me think they might have done all this to make Tubby mad enough to quit? If he quits instead of getting fired they probably dont owe him the 4 mil and they get what they want. Most likely not true but at this point who knows.
