Georgia Tech is good, but not great. Kind of on par with Arkansas. A team that can get to a bowl game but not much beyond that. They will have another average year in the ACC. Daniels is their only decent running back. To not be able to do a better job of stopping him was bad news for the Auburn defense. Tubby never seems to have his teams really ready for season openers. Alabama should be able to beat Auburn this season if Auburn plays like they did against G Tech.
If Auburn can't beat Georgia Tech, they won't beat Georgia either. After watching part of this game, I'm inclined to think that Auburn will also lose to Alabama this season. 7-4 is likely.
my view while watching was that Auburn abandoned the run far too early and put the game in the hands of Cox when there was simply no need. I cannot stand when coaches panic and that's what happened by tub. they did the exact opposite last year and put JC in favorable situations instead. makes no sense. I heard your resident AU guru today, Tex, on one of the local shows saying that tubby played (outside of the centers, deep snappers and some other non-position) a total of 26 players or something as opposed to 50+ as he usually does. That's relying far too much on your main guys in game one. Ga Tech's weakness was their depth and shoulda been exposed but c'est la vie. its inexplicable why tubby kept using tre smith up the gut instead of williams i think it is. its like he was playing into tech's hands. im sure gailey appreciated it. he shoulda pounded the ball the entire game. what can you say about irons? that dude was torched bigger than the statue of liberty by calvin johnson. you guys better replace him now his confidence has to be shot. or hope he's really dumb and didn't realize it. as i thought, tubby is showing he has flaws coaching at times which cannot be reasoned. last year will forever be his shining moment and its back to having really solid teams yet never great. as red said, AU will have 3 or 4 regular season losses. depends if the coaching staff decides to play to its strengths soon or not soon enough. look for the tubby haters on the planes to be out in full force all year.
