Let me just say that this thread is one of the many reasons I'm totally against the making of more agencies in America such as Homeland Security.
Bottomline: These agencies are a total waste of money and they don't function any
better than the CIA and FBI.
I thought it was the CIA's and the FBI's job to "spy" on other countries, look and listen
to conversations from around the world to perceive if there is a valid threat against us?

    TigerFan23,
Your story makes about as much sense as our government does creating all these agencies and having all these countermeasures in place and leaving the borders wide
    open.
It also makes as much sense as searching old ladies and letting Arab Muslims go.

I would rather trust the private sector to get the job done more efficiently than the US
    Government.

I'm sure Haliburton would put in a bid and they would probably be more efficient . . . but they wouldn't be cheaper.

The FBI investigates federal crimes. They do not get involved in international spying. The CIA primarily collects foreign intelligence.

Also, one of my clients is a major airline, so I know a little more than most about what TSA does. The dumb asses in the line are not calling the shots. There is alot goin on that we dont see.

The troops were, however, allowed to keep hold of their assault rifles, body armour, helmets, pistols, bayonets and combat shotguns.

This is the part that leads me to believe that the story is BS. Body armor and helmets, etc, would likely be stowed in each individual's duffel with all of his extra uniforms, boots, etc. Weapons and ammo, however, are another story. Those things would be kept under lock and key until arrival at their destination, and then each soldier would have to sign for them.
