Hitler would be a liberal socialist democrat today. Biggest lie other than man made global warming is that Hitler was a right wing guy. I think even Delores knows this.

It's a terrible article and the above quote is one of it's hallmarks of awfulness. He calls the nepotistic, incompetent, revolving-door establishment "meritocratic", for starters. Brooks is all over the place on his point, which really boils down to "realignment in progress". Only Brooks doesn't have the wits to understand why or how that realignment is happening. He himself is an icon of establishment hackthink, spending his career dreaming up catchy buzzwords and sociocultural thumbnail sketches that he sells at fantastic markup to mediocre coastal elites.

He's right, more or less incidentally, that there's a fairly large cultural dislocation, which Trump is in a sense heightening but in another sense merely symptomatic of (Trump ground through 16 Republican candidates because he was the only one in sync with the cultural moment). This is like being right that your coffee machine will brew yet another cup of subpar java. Not something Nostradamus would bother putting in his journal.

Trump's not draining the swamp just feeding different alligators. The only difference between Trump's and Obama's economic policy is whose pig to feed. The $4.5 billion sop to the coal industry or 220% import duty on Bombardier, on aircraft Boeing doesn't even build and other are costing consumers $100 billion a year and not significantly impacting jobs.
Trump is no free market capitalist, he's a big government democrat that @Rex should love. https://www.cato.org/publications/c...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
