Who signed the stimulus had no bearing on my point so there was no need to mention it. I could have pointed out that Obama signed the largest stimulus package but I didn't. The point being that the stimulus increased the deficits (regardless of who signed the bills) and since they were one time spending bills the deficits were bound to go back to previous levels without any new policy changes. However, there has been policy changes including Obama raising taxes and less spending on wars yet the deficit is still near levels before the stimulus was enacted. This should tell you that Obama is a big tax and spend guy and has not improved the long term deficit situation. The CBO backs this notion up. 2009 was the year of the one time mega stimulus that increased the deficit substantially. Exclude those one time expenses and then assess how Obama's policies affected the deficit. I think a much more honest statement would be that the deficit has gone down since 2009 because that year a massive, nearly Trillion $ stimulus, was passed and as that stimulus rapped up deficits have gone back to pre-stimulus levels. This reduction had absolutely nothing to do with Obama's policies.
This is convoluted logic and it does not tell me that. The Republican Congress appropriates and allocates those budgets, you know. The stimulus was enacted by a Republican, continued by a Democrat and ratified by Congress because it was a vital necessity to end the recession. And it worked. No it doesn't. That is only your interpretation of a projection based on estimates for three decades out. By that faulty logic, then Obama had nothing to do with anything that happened in his presidency. Look, Obama was all over the budgets, just like Congress was. And todays budget deficit is less than the average of the last 35 years.
That red line denoting average deficit would be closer to - 2% if it wasn't for the massive deficits in years 2009 through 2012 which, in large part, where due to the one time stimulus bills. Should we give Obama credit for ending the stimulus (most of which he was responsible for) and in doing so credit for reducing the deficit? I think not.
You fight the good fight VBALL. They have their heads so far up Obamas rear they are breathing his gas buildup. They have been breathing it so long they prefer the smell. That is why they think things are so wonderful. They smell crap and thinks it is roses. They don't want to have serious discussion . When you point out their flawed thinking they want to call you a liar and tell you about a misspelled word. In this thread they play semantics instead of dealing with the fact that a lot of us don't agree that Obama has done the job they think he has. Refer To the Reason above. Your post says it all. You are not the only one that feels that way. Time we take back our country from the bleeding hearts and get us back on a sound financial future by reducing our debt and returning American Taxpayers money to them so they can live the American Dream and pass it on to their kids.
