To accurately judge Obama's policies regarding their effect on deficit reduction the most logical place to start is before the one time stimulus spending kicked in since that substantially increased the deficits. A portion of the annual deficits vanished as the stimulus wound down and had nothing to do with Obama's policies.

So when factoring in GDP there's a slight improvement compared to 2008 despite major tax increases by Obama and reduction of war expenditures. Why only a slight improvement?

"Essentially flat" is bad when the 2014 deficit was $483.35 billion.

They weren't my figures. They were data provided by other sources.....the same process that you and Tiger in NC follow....but somehow you two have all the legit ones. Got it.

The stimulus was signed by Bush. You just want to go back to pre-crash numbers to compare instead of post-crash numbers.

Because we came out of a huge recession, did you forget that? And why do you continue to ignore the role of the Republican Congress in all of this?

But it disproves your notion that Obama alone is responsible for possible future deceit increases waaaaaaay down the road.

Perhaps we bother to check out our sources before posting them. You are welcome to attack my numbers if you think they are bogus. And in fact you do.

Who was in control of Congress the last two years before and the first two years after the crash?

Here's a dose of angry.....anecdotal for sure but to say that "we" are better off really pisses me the fuck off.

I don't spend beyond my means, never have. I budget well in advance. I do a good job of making necessary choices in order to avoid debt. But since 2009, I've never been worse off. In the last 2 years alone, a week's worth of grocery items has increased 31%, the amount of out-of-pocket money I pay for a "free" public education for my kids has increased by 18% and it's not the price of the items, it's the amount of items I'm expected to pay for. Under Obamacare, in order to keep the same coverage, my annual costs have increased by just over $5k. Oil prices have made it nearly impossible to travel outside necessary routes for school, etc. The people who were already getting free shit like free breakfast and lunch at school, free before and after school childcare, are now also getting to take advantage of all the "free supplies" that I fucking pay for!

I was an almost 25-year season ticket holder to USC Football. But I had to give that up this year because the insurance is more important. So yea, I'm a little fucking angry that the healthcare plans I was forced into took away one of the joys of my life. Meanwhile, lots of illegals and other people who were already getting free stuff are now getting free healthcare.

Not that it matters in making my point but Obama signed The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The recession officially ended more than 6 years ago! I have no issue with placing some of the blame for the deficits on the Republican congress for this year and going forward if they continue to control congress. Will you give the Republicans some credit for reducing the deficits during the Clinton years?

It's a forecast by the non-partisan CBO which takes into account Obama's policies.

Shhh.... We are supposed to call them undocumented aliens now. You might as well have called a bomb carrying muslim an Islamic Terrorist. Don't they teach you these things in California at your mandatory Political Correctness Re-education classes?
