Yes Obama censored press he didn't like. Yes he got a pass from the press he didn't deserve. No that doesn't have anything to do with Trump. Trump needs to lead by example not follow Obama's example.

I hear ya. But in the case of Attkisson I saw her in several interviews and I've seen her work in the past and I would tend to believe her story.

You don't know them, trust me; HOWEVER, nothing wrong with a February wedding. Certain not to have to miss any football games. It's those October and November ones that are killer.

The 1st Amendment protects the press from censorship, it does not guarantee access.

That's true, though I think denying access is a form of censorship.

Don't you want a free press that shines it's light on the government's dirty deeds ?

Here's the deal. All administrations work to control what the media reports. Period. Lincoln tried to control the narrative of the Civil War. There is nothing wrong with that. Where Obama crossed the line was using a justice department investigation to accuse the associated press and James Rosen of Fox of violating the Espionage act. In Rosen's case he was named as a criminal co-conspirator so they could get his phone records. And they named him a flight risk to keep from having to notify him that he was being investigated and people were going into his stuff. That's very bad. To me, its one of the worst aspects of the Obama administration.
Trump's not there yet, but I'm concerned that the comments about 'illegal leaks' and the aggressiveness towards the media is taking them in that direction.

I'm not a regular watcher of any news. I scan headlines, read multiple sources on key stories, ignore most. But I'm telling you Trump is no more fucked up than any prior administration. It is the press who is attempting to tell you that because they don't like him.

This isn't just about Trump and Obama. This is a long-standing battle...

"Ann Compton, who covered every president from Ford to Obama, also said this is the least transparent. While Holder has promised not to jail reporters, it seems to be a statement of personal preference, not Justice Department policy. He hasn't pulled back from trying to get reporters to divulge their sources—only from certain tactics—and he has presided over a massive crackdown on leaks inside the administration"

So a seasoned reporter who has covered Presidents from Ford to Obama, said Obama was the least transparent.
"U.S. President Barack Obama came into office pledging open government, but he has fallen short of his promise. Journalists and transparency advocates say the White House curbs routine disclosure of information and deploys its own media to evade scrutiny by the press. Aggressive prosecution of leakers of classified information and broad electronic surveillance programs deter government sources from speaking to journalists." White House insiders were subject to lie detector tests to determine if they had leaked something to the press!

Here's the truth...The First Amendment gives the press the freedom to print their opinions and maintains that the government may not impede their right to do so or in any way limit their means to print (all-inclusive formats). It also provides the press protections from prosecution for printing what they want. And yet, NO administration was more limiting, more threatening, and more secretive than the one that just moved the fuck out. Where was the outcry? Seriously.

Of course one wrong shouldn't pave the way for another wrong. However, this is really a non-story. Trump has not sued anyone, has not pursued leakers, has not attempted to prevent ANY media outlet from getting information to the public. The media is there to serve the governed....not themselves. But they are serving themselves in this latest bullshit frenzy, trying to claim their freedoms are being mitigated. It's total bullshit.

What are the basic rules for a reporter? "Always strive for fairness. Don't take a political position. Report and let the reader decide." These rules have been set aside now as they were during the campaign. I didn't see any outrage when it became clear that CNN through Brazile, had fed Clinton questions in advance and on more than one occasion. The extent to which stories and headlines are coming out, make organizations like the NY Times, CNN, and Politico look like TMZ or the National Enquirer. They long-ago abandoned the idea of responsible journalism and have fully embraced an attack on Trump, truth or not, and that does NOT serve the governed.

    Fuck the media.
