Ahhhhhh if Lasalle can't see the difference now is there any ray of hope at all of him ever seeingi it? Ahhh don't think so
There are tremendous differences. They have less to do with religion than the society. Conservatives live in a modern era shaped by 500 years of increasing secularism. They are much more secular than they or you realize. Radical followers of Sharia still identify more with the 9th-12th centuries. Much of their mindset is stuck there as are their responses and actions.
I'm not talking about from extreme sides. Both of them put "god's" law over the law of man. (Not politicians) I'm just talking about every day folk. They are indoctrinated, they use fear to control the weak minded. I get that even the extreme Christian Right isn't anywhere close to being as extreme as radical islamists, the westboro baptist church isn't gonna suicide bomb anyone. But I feel like people like the Westboro Church and Radical Islamists believe in the same principles.
The Westboro Baptist Church and their ilk are a smattering of wackos and are a very, very small minority of the US population. And groups like these tend to fall apart once their leader is in jail or dead. I'll give you that they are nearly as nuts as Islamists but their capacity to do harm is negligible.
