That's a star in CNN's favor. CNN did what a responsible, fact-based news organizations is supposed to do: retract a story when they found out it was not sufficiently substantiated. Contrast that to this current administration that spews giant lie after giant lie and instead of acting like responsible adults double down on them when they get caught. Three more important things to note: 1) the story was not necessarily false, but just insufficiently sourced and supported. 2) if CNN were truly interested in spreading "fake news" they would have let the story stand without retraction. 3) you obviously don't know much about a free press nor freedom of speech.
