It's because there is no truth to it. Truth be told two things have been happening simultaneously that have created the illusion that the military is being cut. First, military spending under Obama has actually increased. Second, the Pentagon is moving toward a more mobile, quick response force rather than the big lumbering forces we've always had. Drones, Special Forces and technology out the wazoo is the way of the future. Not to mention we have cut back on investments in the F-22, which has been a damned fiasco from the get-go and the military really doesn't want it. I can tell you that my former career field, JTAC, does not want them. They want to keep the A-10 because it is one tough fucking jet that can bring the heat when you need it. Surely in your service you've been witness to the destruction one good A-10 can do.

Sequestration did indeed cause some cuts, but they were across the board cuts, not specific to the military. And if you read this article you will see where congress has been purchasing equipment that the military doesn't want or need. The military wants greater control over how their budget is spent because they are trying to become a lighter force. General Odierno says so himself. You guys can blame Obama and pat each other on the back when you think they've scored a point by saying Obama is anti-military but you are wrong. The military is changing to meet it's current demands and the congress is preventing them from doing so. Further, you guys love to rail on about the deficit and the debt, but Lord have mercy on anyone who might touch the defense budget to help balance the budget. No, let's do it all on the backs of those who can least afford the oppression. Sequestration, the one thing that has caused some restraint in the military budget, was of course passed by both parties. You will recall the government shutdown over this very subject.
