Recently heard a podcast about the Pied Piper of Hamlin. There really was a historic event that happened in Hamlin circa 1300 -- a gate and other stuff were dedicated to the lost kids over 100yrs after. Something happened where the town 'lost' 130 children. A few interesting theories. Most likely, a royal recruiter came singing and dancing and charmed the children from the overcrowded village so that Romanian territory after the Mongol fighting could be resettled.

or it was that effing Trump who stole those kids then sold them to random gypsies, the dirty guy,.. I don't have the circa 1300 part figured out yet.

That's because Trump is an immortal like Duncan McCloud. He will be president for the next 500 years.
