I get your point about Texas, but Saban at USC,.. what a horrible thought, he's as revolting as Kiffen, though he would certainly fit in as a Spoiled Child. I suppose he'd be good for the PAC too , but ugh, no, please not him. Saban should stay in the SEC, it's the furthest away from me.

Yep, up until last night, usc had won 15 straight openers. They had beat Wash. St. 8 straight years by an average of 33 ppg. This ones gonna leave a mark.

After 6 seasons, Saban is basically winning championships every other year. I feel I can live with that. Bama is a very needy program and not just everyone should try to coach here. Takes a self confident guy that enjoys the limelight. Meyer let the Florida program implode, not sure why, but he looked like he lost heart.

can't say i agree. mack brown has done a pretty miserable job at texas for years now. arguably, head coach at texas may be the best job in all of college football. texas, florida and california are pretty much widely regarded as loaded with high school talent year in, year out. not only do texas high schools provide talent for ut, baylor, a&m, tcu, and other colleges in the state, they provide a large percentage for oklahoma colleges too. think of the quarterbacks alone mack has missed on in recent years from texas...andrew luck, rgIII, manzeil. just think if saban would've had any (or all) of those quarterbacks with the defenses he's built? macks had some good classes in recent years, his teams are just under performing. i think saban would have a field day, especially considering the talent available, the relationships he's built at the other stops, his attention to detail, and the underhanded tactics he uses in recruiting. and then you throw into the equation the talent he'll take out of louisiana and the south east and it's just ridiculous, imo. and he'd be right in the middle of the country.

i don't think it would take much to turn the texas program around; considering the money available, the talent available, and the enticement recruits would feel playing for someone with sabans resume from multiple stops. if a guy wanted to be regarded for future generations as the greatest college coach of all time, how could he not be given serious consideration if he won championships at a third stop? not even bear bryant could touch that. how many other challenges does he have in the college game? it could be the perfect storm. conspiracy theory, ha.

I do believe Texas is one of the most hyped, mythological stories in our lifetime. Historically, you certainly can't conclude it's the cradle of college coaches. Darell Royal and Mack Brown, with a Fred Akers thrown in for good measure, that's about it folks. It doesn't have the NCs to suggest it's a given once you are there. For the Longhorns, everything is bigger in Texas, including reputation.

Meh, could be that you are right. Royal had to deal with Wilkerson and Switzer, Mack is the ultimate under achiever, I don't know who the Akers guy is, but I for one sure as hell do not want to see someone like nikki, or even meyer at a place like texas. That is one scary ass image.

That's exactly right. And, the stadium sucks. Don't know why people purport it to be such a great program. If I were a player at the level of playing for UT or LSU, I would go to a game, and the atmosphere at Tiger Stadium vs UT stadium (does it have a name?) would win out. I mean it is a no brainer. How anyone goes to UT is beyond me.

Oh it has a name, it is named after a guy that played football for OU, their hated rival. Bonghorn fans hate it.

I would quickly take LSU's roster through Saban and Miles era over the blue bloods coming through Texas and the Mack Brown regime over that period of time. I don't believe Texas has the football players on it right now that would closely equal Alabama or LSU talent.
