We used to worry ANY TIME we heard hurricane coming. I'm not sure when we started categorizing them but that wasn't the wisest thing to do imo. A Cat 1 can be from 74-95 mph winds. People shouldn't take that lightly.

There's not much damage cause if there were the idiots wouldn't showing a backdrop with nothing out of the ordinary except wind/rain.

One bitch picked up a stick and spoke about having to be careful for flying debris. Really.

The eye of this bastard got about 10 miles from Morgan City and just parked. It is miserable here right now, nothing like what they're having in Braithwate, though. I feel for those people.

People shouldn't take it lightly, but I've been through 8 of these things, so I know what to expect; especially concerning the storm surge. We won't even leave unless the winds top 115-120. Now it would be a different story if we lived in NOLA and had to worry about levy breaches on top of everything else.

Well, the eye took a jog to the north and went around us. The city's a mess, some torn up roofs and trees here and there. But seems like everyone's OK. Still expecting it to be a nasty night.

Did anyone lose power? We were fortunate not to have. Alot of wind and rain, but the lights (and A/C!) stayed on the whole time. I did have some siding ripped from my house, but other than that, not much damage. Hope the same for you all.

Seems like it was 50/50 with the power in Baton Rouge. I was one of the lucky ones over in Kenilworth. Direct TV and Cox internet didn't have any hiccups either which I thought was a little weird.

We are in Bogalusa. The amount of rain has been incredible. I'll post the pics later, but y parents' lake rose 4 feet overnight. It's still raining right now. Hasn't let up since around 8pm last night.

I am told that Hwy 22 in Mandeville is closed. We live off of 22 so I'm not sure when I can get over there and check things out. My sister lost 2 oak trees in her yard. One hit the corner of her garage. Not sure of damage. They lost power yesterday afternoon. In Bogalusa it blipped, but never stayed out. At our place, there is no power. Glad I emptied the fridge and freezer.

I lost power for 23 hours. No trees down or major limbs. A lot less wind in my neighborhood than Gustav or Katrina. The Entergy truck drove down my street this morning and the power was back on in 15 minutes. I suspect he was just inspecting the lines for damage and then tripped the circuit breaker back on.
