I just need to go by the liquor store and then test the generator. I had to put premium in the truck this morning because regular was sold out. I could stand to fill a couple of Jerry cans with regular if I can find it anywhere this evening. I don't want to run the generator on premium. I could stand to find about a dozen D-cell batteries, too.
My flashlight and radio run off of my DeWalt 18v batteries. I can recharge them from my truck. I'm in good shape there. I filled my truck tank and the bed tank so I have 130 gal of diesel. I am set there. Cooking a lot of chicken and other perishables to take w/ us to mom and dad's. Hopefully this turns into much ado about nothing.
Dollar General on Plank has all the batteries and water you could want. I noticed before Gustav that things that are impossible to find in South BR are readily available in North BR.
Last night was hell, it rained all night, tornado threats, power outages. Limbs and shit falling everywhere and flooding. I was up half the night. Good luck New Orleans, gotta call me family to see if they are leaving.
2:00pm computer model runs continue the shift to the west. GFS has it west of Morgan City and UKMET over Bay ST Louis. GDFL has it coming in like Rita over Cameron. My gut tells me it will keep on sliding west and the NO area will be less hard hit. Still tropical storm/huricane force winds will be present tomorrow and Wednesday.
Has anyone seen this thing on radar? It's a big storm, but doesn't look particularly organized, even though the last advisory indicates it's up to 70mph sustained winds. But, just by looking at it on radar, you can't even make out an eye and there's hardly any rain showing up near the center. I'm not sure if that's just an anomaly or what, but what rain there is seems scattered, with the majority of it being in the feederbands on the extreme outer edges to the east. The bad thing about it is that it's slowed down again to 12mph, giving it more time to get it's sh!t together before coming ashore.
We on the same page pal. You're a good man. I cut my grass short today to help it dry and discourage mosquittos. Drained old gas out of big generator and fired up my small one. Need to boost battry on 6500W but didn't want to today since I had gas everywhere. Got canned food like Beefaroni as well as some fish we can fry, pizzas for oven, frozen home-made patties and also steaks to throw on grill. Frozen soup and gumbo. My father always said the best way to ensure it won't happen is to be prepared. He's a faggot. He can't pack a punch.
