Pretty good article I found on the Drudge Report. https://www.bayoubrief.com/2019/07/...-of-tropical-storm-barry-is-its-own-disaster/
We got about 5 or 6 inches today. Never lost power though. I was good to go...installed a whole house generator a few months ago.
Generac. Saw it sitting outside a pawn shop with only 9.4 hours on it. I got the guy down to $1500 and snapped that puppy up. It was plumbed for propane, but was really easy to get it going on natural gas. I had my guys build a pad for it behind my house, then ran a 1" gas line to it ($800), and installed a manual transfer switch and hooked it up ($500). Because of all of my prep, I am pretty sure I single-handedly kept everyone's power one. You're welcome.
how fucking long is that 1” line to cost anything remotely close to that? did you have the whole thing plated in gold or something?
Only about 35', but they had to tunnel under a couple different obstacles. Still, I agree; I just about choked when I got the bill. I have since changed plumbers. Idiot has no idea how much business I have done with the new guy since I ditched him. I just checked my Quickbooks...between my rent houses and my remodeling/construction stuff, it's right at $10K.
for the same price (maybe less) i could have run that using 2 XXH seamless, welded and x-rayed. using all certified domestic materials.
