Comparing LSU's UT game to Oregon's? UT held your team to 16 points in your house. They gave up 48 to Oregon at home in a humid lightning storm that most were predicting would be Oregon's undoing. Oregon never got into an end of the game scenario, where they had to depend on a mistake from UT to get a second shot at winning.
Yeah, I meant an SEC defense but thats cool. Nice highlights, Darren Thomas tore up Stanford. LaMichael James was far from impressive though, I asked for his highlights. All I saw was a bunch of 7-8 yard runs into gaping holes and that last run which he ran through a well blocked hole. But where was the secondary? Stanford looked far from impressive in that game - and credit should be given to Oregon but LMJ was not the reason they won that game from those highlights.
Good for Oregon (for real). LSU played awful and deserved to lose, but we pulled it out. It's those types of games that builds character. Oregon was able to expose Tennessee's weak defense more than LSU. Our offense sucked in that game (and most of the season). However, our offense was effective when the game was on the line. So about those LMJ highlights against Auburn...
All this talk about what Oregon's offense is going to do, but I think the real key to the game is actually going to be ball control by LSUs offense. Keeping your offense off of the field, and, hence, our defense fresh, is the best defense. That combined with our defensive speed, size, depth, and swarming nature is what everyone keeps telling you is why your speed at RB/WR will be neutralized. It's not simply whether your RB can outrun a DE, LB or CB. There will be numerous other neutralizing factors starting with our offense dominating and controlling your defense and the game. This will be the gameplan for our offense, I predict, ball control and time of possession.
If the tables were turned PAC fans would point out that In-Conference games are more hard fought. Either way, transitive property doesn't apply to football. btw, if you're looking for common opponents why use UT and not Auburn?
I've been trying to but he seems to have blocked that game out of his memory already :thumb: Hopefully the LSU game can refresh his memory a little
7-8 yards runs are Oregon's bread and butter. You'd think being a SEC fan, you'd take those 7-8 yard runs all year long! LMJ has the speed to hit those gaps. Here are some LMJ highlights. LaMichael James 2010 Oregon Highlights‏ - YouTube
Oregon had that same kind of game vs. Cal. Oregon played awful. Oregon's D won that game for sure. Luckily, the learning lesson didn't cost them a win. As far as the LMJ highlights vs. AU, there aren't many! Nick Fairley single handed-ly destroyed our O-line. That, and D. Thomas made some bad reads early on that could have turned the tables a bit. I'm sure Oregon's learned from that game, and will be better prepared this year.
I'm not saying our RB's will out run everyone. We were talking about D-linemen, and linebackers. I'll take 4-5 yard gains all day long. As long as they keep the chains moving. But if DB's and safeties are making the tackles, then we're looking at 7-10 yard gains. As far as your offense dominating our defense. I don't see it the way you do. You have to admit that Auburn had a much more potent offense last year than LSU. Oregon held them to 22 points. Sure they got a lot of yards, but you don't win with yards. Oregon's D shut them out in the 2nd half until the FG at the end. Our D will be just as good this year. Most football writers agree with me on that last statement.
