the farmers that benefit from the farm lobbies are almost exclusively large corporations.

if unions are to be counted as organizations that benefit the individual members of the union, then i am going to claim that corporate interests benefit the invidual stockholders and employees.

your point that democrats favor individual freedoms is absurd.

the ultimate individual freedom would be less taxes and spending, but of course neither party is really for that these days, especially not democrats.

liberals favor the poor (of course they also favor the trial lawyers).

conservatives favor the rich (althougth the enjoy the support of the anti-abortion puppets).

Liberals favor talking about favoring the poor.

Conservatives favor keeping the rich from becoming the poor.

How do you figure? They still represent workers, not managment.

    They represent Unions.

In situations where concessions would ultimately help workers, the unions stand fast against it.

"The Appeal" by John Grisham, pretty good read. Fiction,..... but not outside the realm of possibility. I could see it happening.:thumb:

    Mississippi can be bad news.

I was once asked to review a case where a ***** County jury awarded $500 Million to the plaintiff in a lawsuit for economic damages against a software manufacturer. My estimate of the maximum value of this case, assuming everything went in favor of the plaintiff was $18 million. The case eventually settled for the insured's $50 Million limits rather than risk losing on appeal. The lowest settlement demand, prior to trial, was $50MM and the highest offer was $15MM.

It's not healthcare related but it demonstrates what can, and does, happen.

    QFT.

If Unions were really for workers and not themselves, they'd be non-profit organizations. I have worked around enough of them to know that they offer very little if any protection for workers and pay is usually unaffected except for the dues the workers must pay unions for this privilege.

SabanFan, in another thread you made mention of how Texas's attempt at tort reform was just lip service. Can you go into detail on that? Where are there laws lacking?
