The dreaded 3rd & Chavis. Its strange how he can produce top defenses but always has this bad stat hanging around his neck.

Agreed, man you can take Ohio State, Penn St., TCU off of that list because they 80% cupcakes.

this is what kills LSU. it seems that LSU lives or dies by the big play in big games. the offense is still having trouble sustaining drives, even against tulane there were some miscues.

this thread, however, is about the defense. i think that our defense will have to continue to keep teams under 15 points for LSU to have the best chance. it won't take much to beat bama, but it will take a sustained drive (or two) each half. take care of the ball, limit mistakes in the red zone and i think that we can beat bama. :geaux:

How about this? LSU is #2 nationally in kickoff return defense. Bama is #110.

A real good friend of the family is a UT grad and huge booster (owns a alcohol distributing company--has GREAT parties I might add) said this about Chavis:

"...we've NEVER had a problem with our defense--even last year. Chavis' defense will be solid--real solid. The worst thing is that their 3rd down conversions will drive you crazy...but he just knows when he HAS to 'turn it on'."

That was a few weeks ago and he's been "spot on", IMO.
