We can agree on Bono. I just never got U2. Everyone preaches Joshua Tree to me like it is gospel, but I don't see why it is such a great album. It sounds like every other 80's album to me.
I abhor "Joshua Tree." Every single song sounds the same to me, and people speak of Bono like he's God (or Tebow.) I actually don't mind some of their newer stuff, though.
I just don't know about Bono. I don't like his music, but what grates me about him is his off-stage work. I know he does a lot of great charity work, but what gets me is when he trumpets it to the world and everyone tells him how great he is for it. It all seems disingenuous and kinda shady. That South Park episode about him was good. But to keep on topic... what about Axl Rose? Great performer and singer in GNR's heyday.
Yep, that's how I feel about him, too. Everyone gushed over his Super Bowl performance after 9/11 where all the names of the victims were scrolled across a screen, but that, too, seemed disingenuous to me.
Elton John was a rocker in the 70's. So was Tina Turner. 1. John Lennon - The Beatles 2. Jim Morrison - The Doors 3. Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin 4. Roger Daltrey - The Who 5. Tina Turner 6. Joe Cocker 7. Paul McCartney - The Beatles 8. Steve Winwood - Spencer Davis Group/Traffic 9. Elton John 10. Van Morrison 11. Freddy Mercury - Queen 12. Neil Young - Buffalo Springfield/CSN&Y 13. Justin Hayward - Moody Blues 14. David Gilmour - Pink Floyd 15. David Bowie 16. Jon Anderson - Yes 17. Bruce Springsteen 18. Burton Cummings - Guess Who 19. Phil Collins - Genesis 20. Stephen Stills - Buffalo Springfield/CSN&Y
Red, I had Elton John in my top 5 and pulled him. I actually don't have much of a problem with that. Tina Turner is every bit a rocker and a great one. It's a slippery slope. I don't want the addition of Elton John to lead to Johnny Mathis. lol I adjusted my list to include Sir Elton. Nice list, btw.
My top 15 1. Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin 2. Jon Anderson - Yes 3. Roger Daltrey - The Who 4. Freddie Mercury - Queen 5. Paul McCartney - Beatles/Wings 6. Steve Perry - Journey 7. Don Henley - Eagles 8. Brian Wilson - Beach Boys 9. Paul Rodgers - Bad Company 10. Dennis D Young - Styx 11. Jim Morrison - Doors 12. Ronnie Van Zant - Lynyrd Skynyrd 13. Van Morrison 14. David Gilmour - Pink Floyd 15. Bono - U2
