1. For most of his career, but he had some more radio friendly country in the 80's: "Honey (Open That Door)", "Heartbroke", "Country Boy"
  2. Skaggs was country for a long time with bluegrass mixed in. Its only the last decade or so he's been 100% bluegrass. So ya, he is pretty much bluegrass all the way.
  3. This is also a good list. I admit that I'm not as familiar with Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold, and Lyle Lovett as I am with everyone else, so I'm really not sure how to rank them. Good job!
  4. A few more for me that missed the cut, but I still like:

    Lorrie Morgan
    Ronnie Milsap
    Randy Owen (Alabama)
    Steve Wariner
    Dan Seals
    Paul Overstreet
    Michael Martin Murphey
    Martina McBride
    Dolly Parton
    Alan Jackson
    Marty Raybon (Shenandoah)
    Bryan White
    Hal Ketchum
    Blake Shelton
    John Conlee
    John Anderson
  5. Eddy Arnold is an original pioneer from the 40's - 60's mainly. Had a ton of number 1's and I think is pretty highly regarded in country music circles.

Jim Reeves had a killer low voice but sadly was killed in a plane crash. He may have challenged George Jones for number 1 if he had lived.

Lovett hasnt had huge commercial success but he has a very under rated voice.
  6. For those that might not be familiar with it, here's the original Randy Travis version:

I think I still like the Randy Travis version a little better, but I love Carrie's cover.
