Your list is a keeper. I love Vince Gill but I could do without Kenny Rogers.

not a big country fan but I looked for randy travis due to his distinct voice. george jones for obvious reasons.

surprised at travis tritt. one of my faves but thats because hes more blues/soul which I like most.

great list. I dont know how you'd even begin without a reference point.

vince gill is blue grass but its all a mix now anyhow.

I should have had Ricky Skaggs on my list. His steel player, Bruce Bouton, is one of the best "fast pickers" around. Check out "Highway 40 Blues" sometime.
I like every one of your "other notables".

You're right SF. Totally forgot about Skaggs.

And i know you don't like Carrie Underwood, but you have to admit this remake is pretty damn good. That girl can blow....no pun.

:eek: My favorite Randy Travis song, and one of my favorite songs of all time. She did an outstanding job on this! Is this on a new album? I'll have to get it.

Nice Call. :thumb: I just downloaded Highway 40 Blues from I-Tunes. Great song and great pick'n!

The only reason Skaggs wasnt in my top 20 is because he leans bluegrass. If we had top 20 bluegrass he would be in my top 5 with the likes of Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe & Lester Flatt.

There is no question Underwood has the pipes. She will ultimately be a top 20 of all time if she continues her success. I think to be considered with the greats though you need to have longevity. She's only been around a few years.
