I disagree. I see this as us giving both middle fingers to Herman when he tried to squeeze Jimbo-like money out of us.
i thought the ADs job was to do a thorough search for the best coach available, not give both fingers to the former Houston coach.
The ADs job is to get a coach that will put us in the best position to win without giving up too much. If that involves giving the former Houston coach two middle fingers, then so be it. Also remember that I'm using that term figuratively and not literally. All sings indicate that a thorough search was performed though so there's no criticism to be had there. Regardless, what additional coaching candidates were there that were worth a look outside of Herman and O?
according to the administration, the search consisted of two guys. and we bailed on one of them claiming a "bidding war" before the dude even had a second offer on the table. that's not very thorough. in fact, it's the exact opposite of thorough. an actual search would have involved face to face interviews with multiple candidates. there are a lot of other coaches out there that deserves at least an interview. then you sit back, look at all of them and make a decision. if Alleva had done that, and still picked O, then i could at least somewhat stomach this shit sandwich he just served us.
Then we have a different understanding of facts. As I heard, we sat with 3 coaches at least and looked into others. I don't really care if we looked past those three other than inquiring whether Petersen was interested. There are no other coaches that I would be ok with taking so why would I interview them? I don't see a point in sitting down with mediocre guys that we shouldn't hire even if they impress in person.
seriously??? we just hired the most mediocre one with the weakest resume out there because he has a binder.
