thats because your freedom of speech hasnt been taken away from you on street corners, einstein (unless you are placing political stickers or posters on the corner). but it has been restricted in commercials and newspapers. in the sentence you replied to i specifically said i was talking about an advertisement, not a street corner. when they pass the street corner reform act and ban certain types of communication from street corners we can discuss that. for now we are talking about political advertising and how you are no longer allowed to say certain political things at certain times.
I bet anyone here that Tom Delay won't be found guilty. :hihi: Whatever happened to Karl Rove anyway? :hihi: Sorry Chaos and Red, you guys will be disappointed once again! This indictment comes from the same county as The Bush National Guard Story, Bill Berkett. :dis:
But if what little reform has been established is making people jump through hoops to get money to their candidate, isn't it by definition working?
no. why shoudl we have to jump through hoops to get money to our candidates? we want to expose our beliefs through our candidate through the marketplace of ideas. yunno, democracy. since when is repression of free exchange an american ideal?
I don't doubt that one bit. Like I said, he's managed to sidestep a large number of other allegations over the past few years, why should this be any different? The rich and powerful always get off easy, kinda like Clinton, right?
How about Teddy? I would've rather seen Teddy pay the price instead of Clinton. That was a much serious issue, correct? :thumb:
