One big problem that I have come to have with Saban these last few days is the way he speaks with a "forked tongue" on the issue of going to the NFL. Countless times he has stated, "I don't want to coach prima donnas," or the one that boils my blood, "I have no interest in the Miami job." I have been one of the biggest advocates for do anything to keep him, but the more this situation sits on my brain the more I am losing my respect for him as a man. He tells us one thing and his actions say something else. I hate it when someone rides the fence like he has been doing for the past month, so even if he comes back and wins 10 NCs in a row this past month Saban has lost all integrity with me as a fan of LSU football. Also if Saban takes the job, in my opinion, Bertman needs to show him the door and let the asst. coach the bowl game.
It's like this. He can't say he's accepting the Miami job because the Dolphins would get fined. He can't resign because it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why he's doing it. Not only that, but he wouldn't have any leverage with Miami if he resigned now. He's stuck between a rock and a hard place and is handling it the only way he can. Given the circumstances I mentioned above, I am interested to know how you guys would handle the same situation.
I'd like Skip to show him the door NOW! I put my faith in the A.D. I trust that he won't bring in some scrub like a Cutcliff or a TT to replace Saban. Stop the bleeding Skip, since Nick won't.
Skip couldn't stop the bleeding now if he wanted to. LSU is obligated to Saban for 7 years, but the reverse is not true. If Skip fired Saban now, LSU would owe him millions.
i agree texastiger, this whole situation is huring coach saban's legacy and how the fans will remember this whole situation. noone likes to feel that they are second best.
