Still one of my favorite pictures of all time.

It's funny. UF is probably my most hated team, but there is nothing sweeter than a Bama Fan's tears. There's something about taking something away from a group of people who invest so much time an energy into living through their team. There's something satisfying about knocking the "entitled" off their lofty perch. Hell it's just plain fun to watch the Bama fan base work through all the confusion after a loss. This is the only fan base I have ever witnessed that continually talks about how they are going to lose after they win. Simply, they have had so much success that winning isn't fun. They just pick apart the wins. If we keep doing this we're gonna lose. If we don't do that we're gonna lose. Oh no! We might lose and then where will that leave us? Life will end as we know it ...

Here's to giving Bama their wish. May the dark clouds you have longed for rain on your Crimson parade. Here's to the end ...

The reality is that Saban has built a hell of a program. One that true football fans have to admit is impressive. The way he recruits, stocks talent on the shelf and has embedded "the process" so deeply into the program. The Tide does nothing that is magical, mystical or earth shattering. There is nothing they do on offense or defense that is something new to the football world. They are strong, they are disciplined and they are methodical. They don't stop believing and they don't stop executing the next play no matter the score. They understand that if they keep coming at you and keep executing that you will wear down and you will make the mistakes. And when you do they capitalize and then they pound on you some more. Then they finish.

LSU will have to carry a similar approach to win today. The Tigers are going to have to execute their game plan, and each player his assignment with discipline and focus. Minimize the mistakes. Stay smart. Don't get caught up in the hype or suppressed by the environment. Focused intensity. and relentless execution.

Bama is big and strong and they have the beef to control the lines. LSU is big and strong but we are greener and not as deep. We cannot plug 5 star after 5 star into the game like Bama. We don't have the bench. So how do you win?

    • A young team will need to block out the noise and be disciplined in their assignments and execution. Don't get knocked off your plan.
    • Matt Canada is going to have to call his best game. Find the weakness and expose it again and again, forcing Bama to adjust.
    • Bama is going to control the line of scrimmage and has dismissed the shifts and motions as "window dressing", "nothing special". No use banging your head against a brick wall by working the middle of the line. We are going to have to go around or over it.
    • The Tigers will have to use that window dressing to set up the sweeps and the pass. It could be a game where Etling's arm will be needed to open up the run and we will need all the pass catching weapons in play (TE, RB, FB, WR, ...)
    • We're going to have to use tempo to minimize their ability to substitute. Change the pace throughout the game to take advantage of situations.
    • Offensively we know what they are going to do: run, run, run and impose their will. Dave Aranda said he likes to design his defense in a way that forces the offense to do what he wants them to do. The tough task is going to be getting Bama to have to use the passing game.
    • Control Hurts, keep him inside the pocket and hit him over and again
    • Special Teams - this may be the one place where the Tigers have an edge. We will need our best efforts from this group. LSU is going to need some big plays from this unit. Flip field position, kick field goals, maybe a TD?
    • Don't do anything stupid. Control the emotions. No yellow flags on the field!
This is going to be an execute in all phases of the game and pull a couple of surprises type of game. LSU will have to be near perfect in every phase of the game. They will need to keep the game close. Out coach and out execute. Don't get away from what you need to do to win. It's a tall and very difficult task but it is not an impossible task. These are still 18-22 year old kids playing a game filled with emotion. Anything can happen.

    And sometimes it does.

Cole Freeman taught us that "heart has no limit".
Never underestimate the strength of passion. The power of desire. The fortitude of a man's will. One of these teams has everything to lose. The other has nothing to lose but everything to gain.

The forecast here was for rain yesterday. Today the clouds have moved out. It never rains in Tiger Stadium, but if LSU plays well there could be Crimson tears raining down in Tuscaloosa tonight.

And I will have to find a new favorite picture.

    GEAUX TIGERS!!
