It was amazing. I was probably hoarse by halftime. The atmosphere made the hair all over your body stand up. It was the best day of my life.
It was very loud. It was great, however OU made some noise as well. It was probably one of the greatest experience of my life (As a football fan LSU specifically) Just a great weekend.
If anyone remembers, I was one of the 2 people that was painted up. We were on Bourbon St. a lot. We were there before and after the game. I was Michael Clayton. I was wearing a Tiger head. I was the pretty big guy.
Pride, they showed you and your buddy once in the 2nd half I believe. The announcers siad before kickoff that THIS felt like the NC game. They were in Cal for the SC/Mich game and it wasn't anything like this! At games' end they had to leave their seats to announce because they were being pelted with bottles. I was surprised to hear the OU band so much throughout the game. I know LSU matched and likely surpassed them with their band, maybe the tv speaker was near OU's band. The crew said that OU got 37K tickets and the rest was LSU. It was LOUD even though it was thru the TV and Congrats Tigahs on your SOVERIEGN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!! All thru the week I thought it should be split (what more could USC do?) but then I thought hey, the rules are the rules and there's only one true NC: L-S-U.
Damn I wish I was there. I had my surround sound at home cracked back to the point that even my ears are ringing right now. Thanks to all the Tiger Fans who went. Watching the game was truly an experience that I will never forget. Reading some of these posts gives me chills. The post above about the Turner sack; the one from Dheadtiger that mentioned no matter what was going on in your life, for that 1 moment everything in the world was right almost made me tear up again. Thank You!
my voice is still rough too. One thing about OU noise was they had their band mimic the tone of crowd noise to help out! Lsu fans don't need help in being loud.
OU's band jumps up and down and yells, "OOOOOOOOOOOO...UUUUU...." while making O's and U's with their hands and arms... They didn't do that sh!t at ALL after we went up 14-7 at the half, and then didn't do it again until they scored in the 4th quarter. Their crowd also started an "OU" cheer while Kirston Pittman lay motionless on the Dome floor, which I thought was absolutely classless.
What was the make-up of the crowd? Buddy Songy said today he estimates the crowd was 70-30 LSU; someone else told him it was 75-25, and others said 2/3-1/3, so he thinks it was probably somewhere in between. What would y'all say? On another topic: Corso and Herbstreit and others have talked about how LSU won on a home field, and that was a huge advantage. Didn't USC win on a home field too?
We were in sec. 308 row 18 (loge), w/ Snoop Dog in a suite right behind us (2 rows back). He was wearing a USC jersey (# 32 w/ Simpson on the back, O.J. that is). Actually about 5 of his boys had the same jerseys on. Where we were sitting it was very loud from the fans. We couldn't the LSU band that well b/c they were facing the OU side. One thing that was kind of odd was when the Tigers were having trouble on offense in 4th qtr the LSU band sat there silent (w/the composer watching the game from his podium on one knee) while the OU band members were jumping up and down while playing. During this time it was pretty loud from there fans. Other than that time of the game it was the loudest I have ever heard the Dome except that Az Hakim fumble. When Turner sacked White it was the loudest roar I have ever heard. Congats to LSU on the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
