Imagine my horror yesterday as I picked up my beautiful daughter from her first day of first grade. The marquee read: "K-2 Back to School Night--Thursday, August 30, 6:30-7:30 p.m." I almost cried! My DVR will just have to do, but I'm seriously annoyed!
we cooked a good jambalaya this weekend while playing cards/swimming in the lovely heat. never too hot for gumbo much less jambalaya. havent decided for the game but ive been that way for a long time. i hate watching it amongst a superbowl sized party where you cant even watch the game without distractions. i tend to want everyone to be fixated when most are worried about eating/socializing. so either i need to get semi-hammered and go to a party/bar or amongst a couple guys who actually watch it. the latter is the plan thus far but im off friday so afterwards could get ugly. if we lose im likely to just sleep til tuesday when its time to get up. whats with this priority stuff?
Yeah, right. More like, "She's found". I do the same, and, am told the same. I just remind the company that they did come to WATCH the game, not to participate in a gossip session.
Good point. When I was dating my wife, I went to a buddy's party for an LSU game. Long story short, she was a bit surprised that I threatened to throw every person out of the house if they didn't shut the hell up during the game (especially since it wasn't my house.) She thought it was just because I put down almost a fifth of Maker's Mark. I tried explaining that had nothing to do with it. A year or two later, she invited a bunch of people over for a Super Bowl party and the same thing happened -- except this time it was my house, and I don't miss games because of damned socializing. A couple folks from her office left in the second quarter, which was a good decision. I'm also pretty sure it was a good decision for me to tell them to never come back when a game's on. Haven't seen 'em since. Yes, a VERY good decision.
You and I would get along fine watching a game on TV together. A few worried glances, some high fives, and the occasional "pass me a beer", is all the communication needed during a game. :thumb:
On Yahoo play by play around 6,000 miles from the game. In the closest place to hell on earth that I have found. :angryfire
I watch games alone most of the time, too. My husband thinks I'm entirely too obsessed with football to start with. I do call my parents often during games, and we break it down together. We all had a collective meltdown when the blatant pass interference was waved off in the 4th quarter during Auburn last year (and my dad was a football coach, so he knew what a crock it was.) I love getting to actually watch a game or two a year with my parents when we're visiting each other, but other than that, leave me ALONE and let me watch the game!
