newton falls/gouverneur/watertown area is pretty horrific. of course the redeeming part is it gets to about 40 below since its on the border. the actual temps are way below anything reported on the news in that area. i think the closest civilization is syracuse.

given the choice of adjusting my atm schedule or carrying a heavy ass weapon all the time, i will adjust my schedule. but in practice i simply dont worry about it. the lost 300 dollars will stress me out less than the gun battle i might have to get into if i carry something.

also it seems unlikely i will lose more in muggings over the course of my lifetime than the cost of one cheap pistol.

also i avoid places where black people are, so that makes me considerably safer.

I just don't think that's feasible, reasonable, or acceptable. Find a man to escort you or change your whole life around? Protect yourself.

And I promise, if some @ss was attempting to mug me or worse, I would not have any trauma about using the gun successfully.

i agree. some women travel alot by themselves. a gun under the seat is a little extra insurance.

it just seems like red is right. if i am a mugger with a gun, i would have it on your head before you had a chance to get a hand in your purse. and then when you did try something it would make me scared and a billion times more likely to shoot you.

again, i certainly dont oppose anyone's right to carry, i just dont believe that you are any safer.

I'm freaking huge, bald with a goatee and incredible dry so I always have a scowl on my face. Anyone smaller than a professional wrestler would have to be insane to mess with me. WHEN I get my concealed carry, I will carry an H&K P2000SK .40 subcompact with me at all times. Not because I feel threatened, just because I want to...same reason I carry a pocketknife. Never know when I might need it. For the record, I realize that comparing a handgun to a pocketknife isn't exactly apples to apples.

Unless you are carrying a desert eagle, I'm not really sure where you have such a problem with weight or size. The one I plan to carry is about 6" long and weighs a little over 21 ounces without a magazine. A dude I went to the range with once kept a 9mm in the small of his back and wore normal size clothes and you would never know he carried just looking at him. He also could draw and fire inside of a second or 2.

I also have a tactical 12 gauge shotgun next to my bed in the house. Got an email from the home owners association last week about a lady that caught a random dude trying to break into her car in her garage in broad daylight 1 street over from me. I like to consider my neighborhood a decent one but people get desperate when they don't have cash for stuff and bad dudes can easily steal a car to get to my neighborhood. I don't think I'll ever have to use it but if I do, I'll know exactly where it is and I won't regret not having it.
