BS. Lots of people left because of the cold. The wind chill was unexpected and people were underdressed. Live with it.
One more time....ALMOST NOBODY GIVES A $HIT ABOUT TROY (I only said "almost" cause I know some jackazz on here will say that Troy is a football team and interesting to them...) No doubt, a good number would have left at half because LSU was playing possibly the most awful first half in LSU football history. I would not deny that. But if it was a team that people had any excitement about whatsoever, I promise you a lot more people would have showed up and stayed. If the team couldn't get excited about it, how do you expect the fans to act? Jordy Hultberg said it was absolutely lifeless on LSU's sideline in the first half. And yes, people don't like when it's freezing and they're watching an awful game. It's just one more factor that people weigh when thinking about leaving. Again, many more would have stayed if it was an SEC opponent or a somewhat interesting nonconference opponent. But when you schedule Troy, people let their kids, 2nd wife, 3rd wife and her new husband go to the game with them. Those that might normally go are so bored at the thought of the game that they let others have a chance to go. Hell, my brother left early (he never does) because he took his daughter (who wanted to go) to her first game. She wanted to leave because she was freezing despite having a blanket, etc. And she was enjoying it. You think she would have been going to a game if it was an interesting opponent? Hell no. And if it happened that she did, she would have had to freeze her little azz off cause he wouldn't have left early. Of course we have some fairweather fans and have gotten spoiled over time, but all this talk about the image of LSU fans is going overboard. You think anyone outside of LSU is gonna remember that it was an empty stadium against Troy? I mean, other than two people from ESPN and the Troy coach... No. Why? Because they don't even care. They notice what it looks like during interesting games. I promise you many people will remember seeing that Alabama atmosphere on tv. In the end, LSU is nowhere close to having the best fans when they are playing no-name teams on the schedule, but it's not representative of them during the rest of the season. LSU fans like to feel somewhat excited to be in Tiger Stadium and I think last night many of them had too many reasons not to feel excited at all. That's just the way it is. To me, those that hit the exits as soon as we went down by 21 to Georgia were a bigger issue. I know it was not nearly as many, but that was being really fairweather to me. Oh well, here's to everyone who stayed last night. That's the base of our one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
nah, those guys usually kicked the chit outta us (except Ellender, because well they were everones bitch). I went to Vandebilt Oh, and yeah I thought seriously about leaving last night. When I saw the student section half empty, I decided I was riding that thing out come hell or high water. I can count on one hand the number of times I have left early, and all but 1 were games we were winning BIG. The one we were losing was that Miami game in the late '80s when we got skull phucked in a monsoon. I was only like 10 and didn't drive that day, so I didn't get a vote.
haha! right. watch the weather channel before the game next time. I knew it would be 20+ mph winds coming out of the north. I didn't hear one person say "lets go, it's too cold." I heard lots of boos, then people getting up and leaving.
So, if no one cares about Troy, why was the stadium full before the game? Why even come to the game if you know you'll leave at halftime??? Maybe the one's that left for Georgia weren't prepared for the weather and left for that reason?
At the end of the day we are still LSU fans, we do live in a America, at this time we are still allowed to make a choice that is our own. Imagine livng in a country where they MADE YOU go watch Aggie football every week and they told you when it was time to leave the stadium!:geaux:
true. wasnt unexpected. i saw 32 as the low for sat. 3 days before. that means its cold. it was actually warmer than expected.
Not going to get into the debate as to why or why not fans stayed or left the game. For the first time in my long Tiger fan life I got to taste the difference in how some fans percieve things. My friend, who actually played for the Tigers many moons ago, and I were following the game. At half time he had given up, and commented "I told you this was a 7 - 5 team, Miles is clueless". I told him don't give up yet it is only halftime. Come the end of the game I call him up and tell him, did you see that comeback, we won the game. He said "if it was even close, its a loss". What a narrow minded, loss of being a true fan. Some must not remember, the last time we played Troy it was no walk in the park either. I would have loved to witness that comeback.
