Well, it was freakin' cold out there, that's for sure. I saw people leaving at 17-3 in the second quarter, which I hadn't seen before. We thought about leaving at 31-3, and decided to stay for just one more LSU touchdown...which turned into one of the best games that I've seen live since the 97 Florida game. I'm really glad we stayed, but man is my voice hoarse from the yelling in the 4th! :)

Y'all, I said this already, but our fans would have left early if we had been winning at half. It was very cold with that wind and people from Louisiana aren't used to that kind of weather.

With that being said, the fans would have stayed if it were a name opponent, but Troy is Troy. I have a lot of respect for them and they likely should have won, but people don't care about them at this point in time.

It is true that our fans are not the best when it comes to watching games with supposedly very inferior opponents. It's just the way it is. Schedule teams that people could care about...

A potential blow out and harsh weather conditions is a bad bad thing for LSU fans. We'll leave first sight of both of them just like in the App State game.

I stayed but I don't blame people for leaving. They weren't so much fair weather fans as they are warm weather fans.

I am very very happy that they were able to pull themselves together and have a great 2nd half comeback.

That being said, no matter how happy i am about the win, that 1st half was a complete embarassment.

THAT was one of the worst AND one of the best games I have ever witnessed. In the past I've chastised people for leaving early, especially this season against Georgia but last night they were playing so badly in the 1st half I just wanted to leave. Since I was working I no such luxury but I didn't say a word to people who did. It was colder than a witches hat in a Winnebago hubcap. I brought three of my kids with me while I worked the game. I felt bad for them having to endure that since it was my youngest sons and youngest daughters 1st game. I will say my 7 yo son is going to be the biggest Tiger fan. He never stopped yelling and got people around him rolling with his "Troy smells like dirty socks" yells . He nver stopped hollering, even 28 points down.

After the last TD by Troy in the 3rd I figured that was it and just sat down with the 10-15 thousand others and wondered what the hell this team was doing. When they scored with 1:18 in the 3rd the crowd started getting back into it. After the second score the place was starting to rock again and it was pretty loud even with the few people left. I have to hand it to the core of students who show up early and occupy the first 15 or so rows from the field. They stayed there the whole game and once the comeback started the place fed off of them.

THE best comeback in LSU history...hats off to Troy who put up a hell of a game and to Jarret Lee who shrugged off a horrible 1st half and all the booing to come back and pick apart a good Troy defense even if they were worn out.

me too unfortunately I dont live where I can buy season tickets but I'd never leave no matter how ugly it got.

That was a Very ugly game though and I understand people's frustrations.

My Dad is 78 and he cant go to the games anymore. He gets SO UPSET when the Tigers do poorly he has to turn off the raido or TV. He will actually get sick. I mean pyhsically ill, he cant tolerate high stress.

So before you (WE ) become Holier than thou and are able to sit on high and say " what constitutes a good fan" remember that we are all human and people have stress tolerance levels. Now I realize half a stadium leaving doesnt mean they all are this way.... but you get the idea.

I listen or watch the entire game unless it is physically impossible. I've had relatives and friends say " they are winning a million to nothing turn it off" and rarely but sometimes they say " Ya'll will enver come back turn it off, you're a glutton for punishment"

I always reply back that some folks CANT watch or listen and that could be me, so I take advantage of the situation.

I do agree with your post though and the holier than thou comment wasnt necessarily aimed at you, they know who they are.

Here is something else to consider and I hope LSU fans arent like this but they probably are.
In this age of many entertainment options, fans are more likely to spend their dollars on what makes them feel good. Look at Phillip FUlmer. Decent coach, gone.... seats empty.... Fans weren't showing up. Money not being spent.

Its just the way things are. Not much we can do about it but watch people leave when it happens.

I've been to LSU games when we were ahead by a mile and had people get up saying... I'm gonna beat traffic, or I need to put some things away at the tailgate... and they left and I wished them well, didnt judge them.

I couldnt leave like that ,like yourself, I guess because I dont get to go to as many games as locals do, like yourself.
    take care.

I will say this..the fans left in the 4th were louder at 15 thousand than the ones there at the beginning at 75 thousand.

Would she have been freezing if the Tigers had been winning?

    it was phucking COLD!

my seats are on the East sideline, and the wind was blowing directy at me and straight through me all game long. UNtil there was something to get excited about. Once I started moving around (I had plenty of room to do so BTW), it wasn't that bad.

very true. those who stayed made their presence known.
student section was phenomenal even though they were working with a skeleton crew.
